Many places in Europe appear to have a better work/life/school holiday balance with many jobs that are term time working only. This I think would be a far preferable way to work.

I think in the UK you are punished whatever you do, work, not able to work, study, whatever, our system is designed to keep you trapped. It's very, very hard to have options.

Teaching is supposed to be about teaching not hitting fruggin performance indicators.

I am pondering giving DS a monthly allowance to include pocket money + phone credit of £10 a month.

I was a wicked cruel mother and sent my kids out on paper rounds at the earliest opportunity so they funded themselves.

Jinky - big hugs love - hope the black dog lifts soon

Oh feefee - sounds like you're going through the mill. Could you get some sort of power of attorney? Are you getting all the allowances you can? What about compensation?

Natts - sending you big hugs and healing vibes for Lodgercat

Zoelj - get that test done!

    Morning all,

Very quick post from me to say that I've not forgotten about you all!

I spent the whole of yesterday in school flying in my colleague's classroom (so much for 2 hours - her cupboard alone took over that cos previous teacher hadn't finished clearing it out and I didn't feel it fair that colleague should have to do it on her own) - we are clearing up my classroom today and going over all of the drawers with turps (sp?) to get rid of the old sticky labels before sticking all of the new drawer labels on, and then sticking all of the book labels on (they must have about 6 or 7 different exercise books, and I've got 30 in my class, so that could take some time). Apparently things should start to become a bit clearer on the Inset day about how the first week will run etc, and we are going to try and contact our part-time teacher who supports our planning, to ask her for some help planning this.

Well I'd better go and make up my lunch as I'll need to take it in with me as yesterday I ended up buying fish and chips as I didn't have anything (hadn't intended staying that long) with me. Colleague is arriving in 10 mins, so better get a wriggle on.

Hugs to all who need or want them. Good luck to anyone getting results.

May pop on tonight if I have any energy left.

    Bye for now,

    sexymouse xx

Morning everyone. Sorry I havent caught up with the thread but hugs to everyone who needs one. Was awake early as I was thinking about my last day at work tomorrow. I cried yesterday at work. The assisstant manager told me that a lot of managers and people Ive worked with over the years want to come. I looked like the blue icon with the hair standing up. I was really touched when she said they wanted to add to my collection. I didnt think that would happen. So from my little tea with the clients its mushroomed. Dailies are done.

    Buy wrapping paper and card.
    Charge camera batteries
Put out change of clothes for work.
    See mum
    Meet and Greet at hosp.
    Have emptied bins.

    Off to do a HHI.

Jo - hope it all goes well at the new place today!
  • 00020324.gif flyfriends. Hope you are all well and happy today.

Just caught up with the thread. Had a bath at 3pm yesterday then went to bed a 5 and never got up till 7 this morning! DS2 now down with the same thing. Dr has doubled my meds so I'm a bit on the slow side today.

Can I just say what a wonderfull help DS1 has been with me being unwell. When I was in my bed he totally cleaned the kitchen, dishes washed and dried, worktops washed, fridge and cupboards cleaned out, floors washed, dogs dishes cleaned, the works. He even made dinner, lasagne, salad and garlic bread and got DD washed and ready for bed. How great is that for a 12 year old.:T:T So Mondays list is done but not by me:o
