Greenbee - we went for this Paid someone to check that the chimney etc was fine, DH did the rest including making his own register plate. I am very, very lucky in that his Dad was a builder and he did all his student summers with him so he can plaster etc. He trained as an engineer too, and has carpentry and black smithing for hobbies. He does stuff then we pay for someone to certify that it is correct to stay on the right side of building regs. We just couldn't have taken this house on otherwise.

That's lovely :D ... but I probably only need a little one as my house isn't very big... and if you find another model like your DH, could you send him over this way, as that's the one I'm looking for ;)

I have been pottering about upstairs - as the kids have destroyed both little ones room and the spare room, as well as the landing. I hate kids

They have in fact, made so much mess upstairs, that they had no room left to play - and promptly took all the hot wheels stuff downstairs......which is now all over the living room.

There is chocolate milk all over the floor, off their coco pops.

They are like a pair of little tornadoes leaving a trail of destruction in their path

I'm SO glad I'm not coming over to see you today :p

Natty - (((hugs))) You are a better person that your so-called friend and her cat is lucky that she left him with you. Hopefully you will get to the bottom of the problem, but if not, at least you know that he was properly loved and cared for at the end of his life.

feefee - huge hugs. And thank you for reminding us to make the most of life.

I have a VAST cake in the oven, so need to stay put for a couple of hours while it cooks. First I need to clear up the kitchen to get it back to it's previously spotless state ready for when the cake comes out, and then I can work my way through the rest of the lists and out into the garden.

But before all that, as the sun is shining and I'm staying here, I'll strip my bed and get the bedding washed (hmm... I can see an exciting evening ahead doing the ironing...)

    ETA - hex - I'll join you...
  • Feefee – dear god, what a dreadful thing to happen. HUGE HUGE hugs to you and yours, we will all help as much as we can
Serena/G&B – so sorry for you both, hard emotional times, we are here if you need us
Elly – my goodness, I really feel for you. Have no suggestions I’m afraid, though seen some good help already from others. Again, we are all here for you

I apologise for any others I’ve missed, been reading then working and as usual carp at remembering stuff. Will post later
