I was told at the time about sda not exisiting anymore and I wouldn't get it but I was also told that I didn't qulaify for jsa as my husband had savings which we were living off due to the recession hitting his new business badly, they bascially told me that once we've used up our savings to come back to them and they would look into what they could do...
I have a number for someone at our local job centre, the charity that was going to help me get into work I have gone back to them and asked them for their contact so I don't have to ring these helpines....I tried yesterday but he had given me the wrong number but I have a different number to call today will let you know how I get on...
Thanks everybody...0 -
 ;)I'm so out of touch with all these AE's, someone will have to fill me in at some point.
Someone posted under one name but others thought they had posted before and now they are posting under an obvious third name, alwaysonthego now has someone posting as alwayshavingago, I think they are a fan of hers!0 -
Well it transpires that I was given the wrong information and now I have to write a letter to the manager at the job centre and explain what has happened as it seems a number of errors have been made along the way....I was also advised to make a new claim for ESA which I have done this afternoon but I have been told it is unlikely I will get it though this is just a formality as they hope that once my letter has gone in and I attach a copy of the letter plus the discontinuation of my SDA letter to the claim that it will be reinstated....
We can but hope, I haven't had chance to write the letter today as hoped as I was on the phone for an hour making the claim and it knocked me for six so haven't been able to do much since...Will get it done tomorrow and then send it off recorded....
Thanks once again....0 -

I've no idea. I'd like to be able to give OP a 100% answer and without the DMG saying it I cant. Factsheets can be wrong.
OK I see, The info direct from DWP..........so hopefully, but I see the poster has already got some positive action from his office and acted on the good advice to make protective claim for ESA.0 -

Yes I need to ring my contact agian today as you no longer sign benefit forms... which to me seems a little worrying in case of fraud or benefit cheating...
I have found the information changes so rapidly that staff can't keep up with it and one thing about the ESA is that the systems do have faults. He apologised yesterday as after I had given all the information about my husband's business the system doesn't allow you to move onto the next screen, as it's used to the claimant having those details not your husband or partner so he had to delete it in order to move on....Goes to show that the ESA is still in the teething stages..0 -

To me that sounds a bit more like the user than the system being mixed up. When you say business I am taking it that you mean self-employment? If so then it accepts those details no problem.
Well the guy didn't know what SDA was and I had to explain what it was, he asked whether or not it had been part of DLA to which I had to explain that no it hadn't....My husband has his own business so yes self employed so maybe it was user error rather than the system...
He was nice but maybe not clued up on the system and benefits...0
