Right, people of PAD, I need your help.

I have a laptop which I use for internetting as Mr Fresian is too busy most of the time with killing the zombie hoards to give me my precious internet.

    It's old.

I don't mean it's a year old and I want a new one, I think the internet was only accessed by boffins when this thing was new. I once time it from turning on to being able to load MSE (My homepage!) and it takes on average 7-12 minutes. I can't take it anymore and am about to buy a shiny laptop. Ideally this one. I can choose to have it in purple and it's lovely and I want it.

    *breathes*

Can I afford it? Sort of is the answer to that. Read on if you dare:

By the time I spec it as I wish (Keeping it essentially the same as the basic lapto but making the case and mouse purple :o) it will cost less than £400. I have two options: Buy Now Pay September 2010 or pay on my credit card and take the interest hit.

    1. Buy Now Pay September 2010. Tempting, but you get charged £49 for doing this, and if I don't have the funds to pay it then it's a whopping 29.9% APR. Yikes.

    2. Pay on my credit card. I have over £100 in my instant access savings account and could add another £50 at least by the end of the month. I am working for 5-6 hours on the bank holiday so double time making about £21 per hour (Woo!) so could put this towards the laptop then PAD my little *ss off to clear £400 in two months (3 max) and I still think that would be less than £49 admin charge.

    What do you think?

I really want one *stamps feet* but I don't want to jump into anything I can't afford. Oh yeah, and I can only get the lovely purple one on this deal until the 26th. Nothing like pressure.

    Hi F_F!
You had me at PURPLE - My FAV colour!
OH rates Del as a make, so I reckon you can't go wrong. I've experienced the old slow start-up and it'll only get worse, so I guess you have to bite the bullet...
I'd agree with Green and say get it on the card. The PADs will keep you focused to pay it off and "Buy Now Pay Later" always seems abit fishy to me...
How's the festival BTW? I was there a few years ago and had a blast!

(Though I may have to save that for Jan when I'm walking the streets looking for pennies :rotfl:)

£19 for me today:) Its getting towards the end of the month now and I am trying my hardest not to spend any money and have as many NSD's as possible so that I can PAD every spare penny!

I have added on an extra thing to pay for today, I need some electrical work done, which needs to be done before DD's flooring is laid so I am now saving for this too!
    November NSD's - 7

Hi FF I didn't realise they charged anything for Buy now pay later??? Only if you don't pay by the due date. If they do I think I'd be tempted to pay on my card if you know you can definitely pay it back asap. hope that helps a bit

    It's a £49 "Admin fee"

If I allocated £150 per month to paying it off according to the snowball calculator I will have it paid off in 3 months and it will cost £4 in interest. I think it's worth delaying my debt-free date as my laptop drives me INSANE!!

I think if I PAD to repay it then that will keep me focussed :D
