I've just done some research on the company and it turns out loads of people have been scammed by them! You pay £3.95 p&p for a 'free trial' and then they set up and on going payment without your knowledge. You get charged £75 every 30days until you cancel your 'subscription' but it's super hard to get a refund!Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

Further to my previous response, I dids it differently in the end. I wasn't comfortable about writing a cheque on uncleared funds. The cheque clearance timing should have meant that it would be alright but there's always a risk of some of the received cheques not going through on some technicality.
Therefore, I swallowed hard, went online, and bought a years tax disc with a credit card. It will be repaid by mid September without interest. There was a £2.50 charge for paying by credit card (as opposed to debit card) but I reckoned that this was a good insurance against incurring bank charges.
I do seem to be having a few instances lately where I am resorting to "least bad" options.
I had £1,070 of cheques waiting for me on return from holiday. They will be clear on Tuesday and I can sort out most of my recent spends from that.
Once I start moving clear from this debt nightmare, I will never allow myself to go through this again. It permeates into every area of life and I was always happier having little and owing nothing. When the stress isn't there, I can actually enjoy a nice sunset or sunrise more easily and relax by feeding the ducks in the park. I sleep better. I laugh more and don't feel bad tempered. I can do little things for other people without adding up how much work time has been taken up. The list goes on. I want that life back.0 -

I seems really unfair aswel that companies charge for using a cc, I never understood why they do it.Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10

Hello everyone! Must say young Millie is gorgeous!!!
I haven't been around the last couple of days as my friend came up to vist from London, I've just dropped her off at the station to go home again. She's the same age as me, does the same job, but our situations are so different! She's been living with her parents since she left uni and they haven't made her pay any rent as they are well off. So she's been saving half her wages and coming out nearly £800 a month disposable income! So jealous haha. She want's to buy a house soon as she's got just about enough for a deposit, and she was saying she's dreading it as she knows she's going to really struggle to get used to suddenly not having so much cash to splash.
I haven't made any pads yet even though I have been paid because I haven't done my monthly budgeting yet. I am gonna try and get it done this afternoon and then post later
Hope you are all ok and enjoying the bank holiday xxThs signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0 -

They charge because the card companies charge them.
The argument is if they charged a bit extra across the board, the cash payers would be subsidising the card payers.
Personally, I just think that everyone is on the make and wringing whatever they can from their customers.0 -

I agree!
I know people want to make a profit but when it comes to huge companies worrying about a few pennies, it makes me really angry!Started PADdin' 13/04/09 paid £7486.66 - CC free 02/11/10
