    Thanks hopeful1! :)

I have yummy food at home, a face mask, some fake tan (Gotta love the Boots 3 for 2 offers), a comfy bed and most importantly, a lovely OH so I will be fine once I am home. And I get to watch new episodes of two of my fav programmes :)

Work is driving me a bit loopy at the moment though. We had a new joiner about 2 months ago and it's not going great. At first I thought that it was us, that we needed to provide more structured training and guidance etc, but have tried everything and am still repeating myself constantly and correcting work left, right and centre. Plus he's taken to coming in late every day - I pulled him on that one yesterday afternoon and he said he would be in early to make up for it, yet was still 15 minutes late.

I know 15 minutes isn't a lot but it all adds up over the week and the rest of us are doing overtime! He was ill on Monday, late Tuesday, overslept Wednesday and then late yesterday and today. And worse, I don't feel like Management even sees this as they are always late themselves! I am the only one who is in on time. Which is another reason why I think he's doing it, because that's the example that has been sent by management.

With the workloads, I even tried sending an email with a 'to do' list for the next day stating what needed to be done, instructions or request to come see me for explanation, and a priorty rating. He came in, read it, and decided to start on something with a rating of 3 instead of 1! Where's the common sense??

I then decided that perhaps, that was making it too easy for him and I should give advice on how to manage his workloads himself, make notes etc. Well, I've been repeating this mantra over and over - he never makes notes, and if he does, he doesn't refer to them. And he can't seem to remember anything that happened longer than 5 minutes ago!

I'm not even supposed to be coaching him! That's my colleague's job but she's been off sick loads and doesn't work Wednesday's anyway. So, instead of it becoming the Manager's responsibility, it somehow becomes mine! I don't even have the right training to coach him! Arghhhhh!

Sorry, I just needed to vent. I have explained something to him at least 6 or 7 times in the last hour and then he asks me the same ruddy question again! And I'm lacking in patience today. :(

    LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION

1 Trevor Adams, my assistant programmer, can always be found

2 hard at work in his cubicle. Trevor worksindependently, without

3 wasting company time talking to colleagues. Trevor never

4 thinks twice about assisting fellow employees, and he always

5 finishes given assignments on time. Often he takes extended

6 measures to complete his work, sometimes skipping coffee

7 breaks. Trevor is a dedicated individual who has absolutely no

8 vanity in spite of his high accomplishments and profound

9 knowledge in his field. I firmly believe that Trevor can be

10 classed as a high-calibre employee, the type that cannot be

11 dispensed with. Consequently, I truly recommend that Trevor be

12 promoted to executive management, and a proposal will be

13 executed as soon as possible.

  • FRIDAY! YAY!

£40 to my c/c for me today, PADers! I have an evening OUT tonight (I've been a bit of a hermit lately, through choice) and am interested to see how I deal with handing over pub prices for booze  However I will make sure to save back a little to PAD too.

Big :grouphug:, slightly violating, e-hugs to those of you that need them, either for the blues or the lurgy. Here's to a happier and healthier weekend :o

Well, despite me being a misery today, I was very good at lunch.

Usually when I am down, or tired, I reach for the junk food, even if I have bought lunch with me. And...I was considering doing just that today but decided against it and ate my healthy lunch instead.

Far better for my health and my bank balance! :)

    Good girl Euro!
A moment on the lips and all that! ;)

I'm trying hard to drop a few pounds for our work's Christmas Do in 5 weeks.
So far the scales are wavering between a loss of 4/5lbs, so need to shift a few more.
Hoping that I'll have lost 1 or 2 this week due to illness and reduced appetite - fingers crossed :rotfl:

    Thanks Macgirl!

I've lost about a stone and a half since moving here due to the difference in culture and some differences between the offices.

There is only one vending machine here and it is on the ground floor (i'm on sixth). Whereas in the UK, the vending machine was about 3 feet away from me and I visited it twice a day. Another area where my money disappeared.

I had no choice but to adapt (I'm far too lazy to go all the way downstairs everytime a craving hits) and so my wallet and my waistline have seen the benefits.

They also don't have as many junk food options available here - mainly I am missing S&V flavoured crisps - god I could eat 20 packs in a day....easily! There's less temptation so it makes it easier.

So, I think a good idea when trying to shift a few pounds is to not have any junk in the house! If it's not there you can't eat it. Also, don't take change to work cos then you can't buy it there either.

Feeling peckish though, gonna have that banana I saved from lunch :)
