Morning all! Been MIA due to moving DD into uni (hi DT:hello:). Spent a fortune  but got her there OK - couldn't have been better, lovely room/great accomodation, 3 flatmates (1 girl, 2 boys, all seemed nice), good location, health club/pool in basement, shops/bars/club at ground level, park/art gallery opposite, good bus service. As we were unpacking, flatmates knocked & asked her to go out with them, so a quick hug for us & off she went leaving us to unpack & leave :D

Then yesterday - less than 24 hours in she has lost her phone  & has fallen out with one of the boys - & is homesick :eek::eek: Gosh I thought it was too good to be true!

Just a little £10 to o/d for now please Farmer Jo tks
Oh sash .. it's 18 years:eek: since left my son in Liverpool... he's married with children now, but it still seems like yesterday he went..oh how I cried!! The people he fell out with i his first week are now friends for life. Hope your DD has a great time too.

Farming PADDers - can you tell me why there is a sheep (a black one) in the balloon I bought for 10 coins yesterday?

I noticed that, have been trying to entice the little beggar out but he seems determined to fly up up and away.............:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    You're right particularly the Saturdays.
Perhaps I need to get heavy:rotfl::rotfl:
I not like paying on Saturdays 'cos money leaves my bank account nd doesn't seem to go anywhere until Monday..
If I pad on on Saturdays I often just set up for a Monday payment .. if you get my drift!

This reminds me of something. If anyone is skint and needs a cheap holiday then you could do a lot worse than I did a few years ago. I went up to the N. Yorkshire moors and spent a week on an organic farm. There is a village up there that has five organic farms. Some of the residents are workers and others are "villagers". The villagers are people with varying degrees of mental handicap who have been placed there. Probably their families can't cope etc. I found it a very rewarding experience. The break is free but of course, you have to work your keep. You are fed and watered and supplied with sleeping quarters. It wasn't anything too difficult really and just having such a change was restful. I did start to get a bit bored towards the end of the week as I was rather younger and more restless then. No problem. I just took a drive into Middlesborough for an evening out. Whitby is a reasonable drive away too. So long as you do your work in the day the evening is yours. I found it interesting to get to know some of the handicapped people. It helped me to face one of societies big taboos and realise that it's no big deal.
Having written this i'm wondering if it still happens that way. Probably these days you have to go through ten layers of checks to ensure you're not a pervert/axe murderer. Plenty of sheep for anyone so inclined anyway.
I'm not sure that viewing it purely as a cheap holiday is really such a good approach. It's actually something more than that. I'm not sure that I want to try to define it because each person will bring different things to it and take different things from it.
To this day I still have a black pebble with pink swirls on it given to me by one of the villagers. I gave him a WWF promotional poster for it (I worked in advertising back then). WWF = World Wildlife Fund - nothing to do with the wrestling.
This all happened way back in 1991. After getting back I had a message to contact the advertising office and was promptly made redundant. Best thing that ever happened to me because I have been window cleaning practically ever since. Flexi time with decent pay and don't have to put up with anyone you don't want to. I really would hate to have a "proper" job
That used to be called WOOFING - Working On Organic Farm .. not sure if it still happens.
