Guys, I joined this thread thinking that PaDing was a really good idea. I still think that, but I'm not sure that I'm good at saving/paying bills this way: I know some people considered bills as PaDs but to me, I try to make PaDs something on top of my basic bills. However, I try to put as much money away at the beginning of the month in order to avoid the temptation to spend it. I think I might work better in lump sums as opposed to a little bit here and a little bit there. How do you guys do it and do you have any advice? Thanks! Please call me 'Pickle'

I don't know that I'm a good one for advice but for me, a PAD is currently a payment towards a debt or to my tax bill (which I regard as a debt as I'm self-employed). I do regard my minimum payment to a CC as a PAD. Not household bills though.
I have BACS bill payments set up on my online bank account to all cards and to the taxman. This allows me to pay what I want, when I want - in addition to the minimum payment DDs that go out.
For me the important bit is to pay something each day - even if only 1p. It's symbolic really when the payments get that low. Just to know that 'm doing something about my problem - however small. I acknowledge that in practical terms, paying a few pence towards a massive debt isn't such a big deal but it's the doing of it that's important to me.0 -
And while I'm on the subject and still awake, a Saturday PAD of
19p
