  • Hi just caught up with your post. I took in a stray elderly cat which was also feral. He too was riddled with fleas and his white fur black. I ended up getting a cat trap off ebay as he was too wild to catch by hand.
Like you I rang around different charitys but nobody could/would help. In the end I took him to the pdsa who were fantastic Sadly he ended up going missing but Id do it all again.

Bit of an update on angry cat!

It was confirmed by another neighbour that the cat was infact a stray and she decided to completly cut down the bushes that he was hiding under so he no longer had the cover of the bushes

He decided to find another much bigger bush in the square so i hadnt seen a great deal of him.

It was also confirmed by the other neighbour that my next door neighbour rings a bell at 4am to attract all the cats to feed them

Anyway i was just in my kitchen packing up as im moving in a few weeks, and there was a young girl walking a couple of dogs off their leads. The cat was out from under the bush and sat in the middle of the square, one of the dogs approached the cat and started to sniff him. Next thing i knew the cat was attacking the dog

I have just ended up having to drag the cat off of the dog and the cat has cut my hand to pieces, the cat ran up the stairs to the flats opposite my house.

The dog wasnt too badly injured though he did have a couple of cuts, and seemed ok when the girl herself had calmed down and felt able to take them home.

Have just phoned the RSPCA again as obviously i dont know if the cat itself is injured in anyway, and was told they wont come out unless i capture the cat myself and he is injured in anyway

At the moment i cant even get up the stairs to go and see if i can find him so he could be up the stairs hurting and they wont even come out and check on him

I give up what exactly do the RSPCA do????

You wont be the last who have had their eyes opened

They have plenty of money going in - but none of it reaches the ground level. Local RSPCA centres have to be self funding which is why I guess your local centre is claiming poverty

Mind ring up Rolf and the BBC and the RSPCA will be there in a shot

Just got carried away reading this thread whilst looking for something else. What a saga. Anyways as the charities have been really unhelpful so far, how about grabbing a telephone book and ringing the local vets? . I once rang a local vet about an injured stray from a road accident (RSPCA couldn't come for 48 hrs!) one vet was useless but another gave me lots of advice and operated for free when we got it there. Also vet might just know someone who could give you a hand catch the cat. Worth asking! hope your hand is ok. And good luck.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

If you go on the Purrsintheirhearts forums you will get excellent advice on what to do next. The RSPCA does not seem to be well thought of on there, I think the Cats Protection will send a trapper out if there is a branch with one in your area.

A lot of the CP branches are practically one (wo)man bands, you may have an overloaded one in your area. Do post on Purrs, they are brilliant at signposting and many of the rescues read the forums.
