I just have to say that i'm so glad there are people like you who won't give up, and the lady helping the little Dog on another thread also, if ever my Pets went awol i'd hope someone like you would look after them & try to get them safe & reunited with me x0

Just a quick update,
Cat is still there very unhappy and hissing at me even with food!!
Have phoned around again this morning and although so far they have all said they are unable to help with him they have given me some more numbers to try and i have left god knows how many messages on answerphones, just hoping that somebody will be able to help and will get back in touch with me0 -
Could you give him something to hide in? Like a box? Cats i've had in the past have liked a sealed up cardboard box with just a catflap type square cut out of it so it's all enclosed, maybe he'd go in it after a while? Even if he only went in when nobody was about he'd have some shelter? You could use a broom to push it towards him maybe. Does he let you get close enough to him? He approached your Daughter so i'm wondering if you could borrow a cat carrier & use thick gardening gloves & grab him in a towel, stick him in the carrier & take him to a Vet? I think Vet's generally will treat abandoned/straying animals so you probably wouldn't have to pay anything.
Hopefully one of the numbers you're trying will pay off & someone will come to see if they can help x0 -
He is pretty well sheltered where he is tbh the bush is planted in a low level brick planter in a square shape and he is under the side that the sun doesnt hit luckily, so the broom idea wouldnt work neither as obviously it is higher than ground level.
Since he approached my daughter last sunday he hasnt allowed anyone to be anywhere near him the closest i can get without him being defensive is about half a metre away which isnt really close enough to grab him (not with a baby bump in the way anyway :rotfl: )
I havent had any calls back yet unfoutunatly though i do have another number which i have been told they dont accept calls until after 6pm so if i dont hear anything from any of the others before then i will try that one too.0 -
Hi
Maybe you have to get a bit more agressive with the rescue organisations. I dont mean shouting and swearing, but demanding to speak to someone in higher authority and demanding they do something for this poor cat.
I think when we are in this position we act alll nicey nicey(not saying your not normally nice, op) and it sometimes needs a stronger line.
I wouldnt suggest going anywhere near it with a towel, even with gloves on as our normally quiet tom left us with huge scratched arms/legs/body in fact anything he could get his claws into and cant half squirm even when you think you have got them in a vice like grip, when we had to administer spray to a infection on his leg.0 -
I think im going to if i dont get no joy today, im guessing i may get more sense tomorrow as they will have more staff working as it wont be a weekend.
At least im hoping so!!0 -
Could you ring a your local vet and ask their advice. They might know a local rescue group / big fella who would come and pick him up (you might even find they have someone on the books). Most vets do pro bono work for injured strays.
To my mind I think it's likely he is injured and is hiding there ( a friends cat recently was missing and was found after 3 days under a hedge with injured back legs and tail (looks like a car accident). tail has had to be amputated
It's horrible to think his owner could be going out of there mind with worry somewhere.0 -
Aww no poor kitty
Thank god someone found him!
Well i got no joy from any of the ones i tried yesterday and nobody returned by phone calls neither
He is still there hissing away at me im getting quite used to being hissed at now :rotfl:
Going to try the Cats Protection League again today and if i still get no joy from them im then going to try local vets and the local PDSA even if they cant help they might know somebody that can (fingers crossed!)
Wish me luck!0 -
It is so maddening that these so-called "helpful" places and organisations can't lift a blooming finger to help .... ok, so it was the weekend .. but so what???!! Animals get hurt and need help at ALL times!
Makes you wonder how caring they are with their own pets ... gggrrr .. sorry but it makes me so mad.
That poor cat could be in agony and not showing it ... plus of course, the fact it had a go at your daughter means she cannot play out for fear of it having another go ...
If you don't get anywhere with the CPL, I would seriously consider phoning the radio and asking them to make an appeal for help for you ... some morning shows talk about the community etc and someone may be listening who has a trap and can handle an angry or hurt cat and will come get it for you ... you are in no condition to be cat wrangling missus!!! ... I am sure you would get someone from your local radio to give it a mention and ask anyone to ring in who could help.
Very often you get folks rescuing and taking in all manner of waifs and strays but nobody knows about them .. they do the work cos they just love the animals and will try and help as many as they can ... these are the real heroes of the animal world I reckon! You never know, one of em may have the radio on, be local and phone up to come help ... neither you, your daughter or this cat can go on like this indefinitely ... !!!0 -
I've always said if I won the Lottery I'd get a house with a lot of land so I could take in the poor cats who get rescued from hoarders.
Its heartbreaking to see so many of them needing to be put to sleep because they're not classed suitable for rehoming.
I'd set up a large area that was closed in so they couldn't go feral in the countryside so at least they could be kept alive.
They would get all the vetinary care and food my own little Sweepy gets but I'd just not look to domesticating them.0
