  • Have phoned a couple of local vets this morning, everyone that has been suggested i have already tried though she did give me another number for cats protection league which i have been ringing now for the past 5minutes and it is still ringing in my ear as i type
She said other than that its gonna be a case of keep ringing the rspca she said by the sounds of it he may well have underlying health problems which is what i thought anyway.
She said apart from trying to catch it myself and taking it to the pdsa or somewhere similar there isnt much more i can do :(
She said to feed it and ignore what the rspca have said because if he isnt eating and is ill it could make him worse and if he isnt drinking he could well be dehydrating in this heat she said to try him with some dry food first and if he wont eat that thenn try him with meat but ones that are in jelly as they contain more water which should help if he is dehydrated but she was saying that they have had cats go in recently coz of the heat they are getting maggots n all sorts coz the cats r getting dehydrated so im really hoping this hasnt happened to him :(

Hadnt thought of the radio i might try them :T

I did find a cat fitting his description on one of the lost and found sites last night and it is missing from the same area as i am in so hopefully it is him and can be united with his owner once again though i am still waiting for someone to get back to me.

    Keeping fingers crossed!!!

    Fingers crossed here too!

Just in case he isn't that cat, can you get close enough to take a photo of Angry Cat PrincessPlaty? The websites I posted earlier have "cats found" sections where you could post his details and photo in.

If his owner spots your description and comes round Angry cat might turn into purring cat. :D
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

  • I have progress!!! :j:j:j:j:j

Angry cat just let me stroke him!!! :j:j:j:j:j and he didnt hiss at me :j

He did however hiss when the kids appeared behind me :rotfl:

Im hoping that even if i give it a couple more days to gain his trust a bit more then i may try and get him into a cat box and get him to a vets myself :T

My mate is on her way over with a couple of sachets of cat food in jelly for me to try and get him to eat, just hoping that nobody else decides to approach him and that he doesnt lose his trust in me
  • Ok im getting somewhere with him :j

He is out from under the bush and has just come to me for a fuss :j

He is full of fleas, his fur is very yellow looks like he has given up cleaning himself, his eyes are full of gunk his nose looks clear though, he is moulting quite badly but he has plenty of fur there to compensate for the loss!! His belly seems to have a lump hanging down, made me wonder whether he might be a she and may be carrying a litter  I couldnt feel any nipples while stroking it though, it was a bit nervous of me stroking its belly to start with and i stopped a few times and made a fuss of it before trying again.

I have just managed to get it to eat a little dry food, and have just left it drinking some water.

Any suggestions as to what i can do next? I now definatly seem to have his confidence now trying to find someone with a cat box at the moment that i can borrow.

That is fantastic! It sounds as if Angry cat has been a stray for a while, going by your description. And has correctly deduced that you are a nice person :-)

Can you make a refuge out of a large cardboard box for him (or her) with some old towels or something for him to sleep on? He may not go in it when you are looking but will probably appreciate it very much as it will give him somewhere to sleep in safety.

Pregnant cats tend to get wide at the sides, not underneath, it may just be in need of a tummy tuck (Could just be fat?), when s/he lifts his tail you'll be able to tell if a she or a he! Wonder if it has cat flu or something, poor thing, it's good it's trusting you now though! The Vet's should have plenty of carriers & be able to lend you one x

It was a lump type at the side that made me notice the belly underneath!! so im not sure

Cant get to check his/her bits there is too much fur everywhere to be able to see anything, a friend of mine has a spare grooming brush she is going to bring it back with her when she comes back later and when the kids go to bed im going to try and see if he/she will let me brush him/her a bit maybe able to see more then :rotfl:

I was contacted by the lady that had the missing cat and she has just been round and unfourtunatly it isnt her one so poor Alfie is missing also! :(

She has said she is going to contact the people that passed my number on to her and see if they have got any suggestions and have emailed them back myself giving them a few more details of him and keeping fingers crossed that they might have another suggestion!!

    Hi
I just want to say well done for keeping persisting with the cat and caring for it like you have been.
    :A

My partner found a cat at his work that was really badily malnourished and had rotten teeth, worms & fleas. It was nearly half dead.
He brought it home but then we couldnt get anywhere to take him from us. The rspca was full and so was the 4 cat protection leagues we phones.Everyone keeped saying couldnt you keep him ! Which seemed to be the general theme- that since we had found him and rescued him he was not a "priority " as he was in a house.
I have 3 girl rehomed cats and didnt want another cat plus there was the vet bills and my own cats health to consider, as they are house cats with no injections.
Fortunately I did take him to my local vet who when I told her the circumstances treated him for free. She told us he would have been lucky to live another week.

After weeks we couldnt get anyone to take him and no one returned my calls .So two years later he is here and I do love him.
However I am still disgusted at the agencies that failed to help me.I have a low income and cant afford extra vet vills and another cat.

I think the problem is agencies are over run as there are so many irresponsable owners out there, but also because cats get lost, stolen and owners die .I used to think it was disgusting people dumped animals at the rspca and vets door. However with the way these agencies work sometimes it seems they wont help you unless you dont.Which is really so so sad.
So fantastic for what you have done ,I hope kitty gets the proper treatment and a new home x
