Morning
I live in Scotland so no bank holiday here.....
Thank you for your kind welcomes, I suppose I can sit on the fence a bit with having both, the ME and now Fibromyalgia, so if anyone asks for advice I usspose I can see it from both angles...
BZ I got married this year as well, sounds like the best man is a nightmare I would if you can get someone to stand in for him as let's face it do you trust this man to make a speech and handle things on the day and secondly do you really want to reward this man by having him there at your most important day and paying for him to drink and eat at it???
I can sympthise, we had so many disasters before our big day but fortunately apart from our wedding planner falling to pieces nothing went wrong on the day....Our major disasters were that my dress was altered incorrectly and had to be written off two weeks before the wedding and I had to find a new one, we are now going through the hassle of having to take the lady to the small claims courtand our other problem we had was that the jewellers boss died and meant we had to have our rings posted up to us as they had shut the day we were down in the area....Thankfully the lady that had been dealing with us was very efficient and even offered to drive them up bless her....
weddings are always a testing time...:rotfl:0 -
i think bz will have to have the blow up best man ! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
hope d/f sorted him out and has come back home with out a black eye :eek:the truth is out there ... on these pages !!0 -
Morning All :hello:,
glad to see you are all as talkative as ever !!
Well I have lurked for long enough and thought I would tell you my news.
As you may or may not know I work for a well known high street health food store which was taken over by another high street name who sells more of the supplement side. The powers that be have decided to change the deployment in store andd have now asked me to work 2 all day saturday shifts and in those weeks a 2hr shift in the week !!!!!!!!!!.
I really cannot do whole days as standing for that period of time will set my sciatica off and my bowel problem(for which I am having a barium enema on wed ughh)
When I started 4 1/2 years ago I was led to believe the longest shift would be 6 hrs and this is usually a sunday so not too busy and am allowed to sit now and again.
I am also my mums carer and have always had a wednesday off so we have a good routine of ,cleaning ,appointments etc.
Any way I rang personnel on monday to tell them I was unhappy with this and it had an impact on my health and caring duties because no one else had a 2hr shift so would be unable to swap, as I always had so the shop was never compromised. The personnel manager said she hadnt seen the deployments but would have look and speak to the area manager and someone would get back to me.This was last monday.I still had not heard anything by thusrday evening even though I had worked 2 shifts ,so she had had the opportunety to ring me at the shop.
I sat down and had a good think and decided that I was going to hand in my notice on the friday morning, becaues the area manager was visiting that day (she was starting with the company that week)
To cut along story short everything they offered me was unacceptable ,first rota included weds so explained don't do weds and the cheeky devils asked me to change the day I do mums and after 10 years of the same routine I said I wasn't prepared to change as it would disrupt everything we had sorted ie doctors dentist etc. They even had the cheek to ask did I not do weds cos it was delivery day,now when I started deliveries where thursdays and I've always had weds off even in my previous job for elc.
Next rota was 2 sundays plus sats etc and this wasn;t acceptable.#There 4th and final offer was ,wait for it ..................................... go down to a 5hr contract on saturdays and then it would not trouble for mum !!!!!!!!
Oh and when there was overtime I would get first refusal !!!!
As they wouldn't compromise we where at deadlock so she had no alternative but to accept my resignation subject to me talking to the personnel manager. This is the same one who didn't bother to get back intouch and lied when asked why she hadn;t.She told them I had said I was going in to see them which I hadn't because I had planned to take my grandson on a picnic that day after the docs, but the weather was carp.
I have really enjoyed working at the store and have given my all and even though I am only 10 hrs have always "managed" the shop when supervisor was off etc.I say "managed " because we have never had a manager they only have supervisors and all staff do everything ,open close ,cashing up etc. and just for the minimum wage would you belive.
So there we go that is my tale of woe.As from the 25th September I will be taking early retirement and do you know what, it feels good. And on the 26th will be going on my hols to Kos.
I would be interested to hear your views on the situation as some people keep telling me I can have them for constructive dismissal but I personally think because they offered "alternatives "I don't stand a chance.
Thank you for reading ,
love to all ,

hassie ive been meaning to shout out and see if you were lurking as i was just thinking that we hadnt heard from you in ages, but as usual by the time i get here to do so ive forgotten. id suggest speaking to or dial uk as they would be best placed to advice on the dda and constructive dismissal etc. i would think they made unreasonable offers, but i dont know anything about the legality of it.
id also say i recomend dial over cab as last week i spoke to both re benefits and volunteering and cab gave me incorrect information whereas dial give me the correct info although it did take them 24hrs to return my call, whereas cab i had to go to and wait for an hour to be seen and given the wrong info.0 -
Hi Cat,
What is dial uk have never heard of them ?
I live in N Wales so is this an England body ?
I cannot believe how they have treated me and with hindesight (?sp) I feel I'm lucky to be getting out because I think now the monopolise commision has passed the takeover it is only going to get worse.
On the plus side ,no more sore body from humping stock etc and I can chip in on here more.Mind you my mum has already put claim to my free time lol,

Welcome Boesgirl and Neh - and commiserations Hassie on all the work-related problems. It's been too long (about 15 years) since I sued a former employer for exactly the same situation - so I don't know how things stand now. At that time, the options offered had to be similar enough to current conditions - in my case they wanted to change where I worked and the hours were significantly different. I sued in the Small Claims Court and they caved in. Of course being a 'religious organisation' they wanted me to 'trust' them and stop the case on the promise of a cheque :rotfl:PMSL. I told them I couldn't trust them to treat me fairly so I wouldn't trust them not to renege on the agreement
. It was great hearing the organisation's name called out in court - major embarrassment for them
.:T:T:T
I'm not back up to speed yet,:o can't find a resting place sitting, standing or lying down - but pretty much what I expected. I was just saying to a friend this morning that the pain from the injections brought back memories of labour  (two out of three of mine were all in my back:() so feeling pretty sickly into the bargain.
Looking forward to the second part of Wuthering Heights tonight and just discussing the possibility that Tom Hardy is the best actor of his generation :T as I've no doubt said before- following his role in 'Bronson', 'The Take' and of course as Shinzon, clone of Jean-Luc Picard in 'Star Trek Nemesis'.
CWTA did you find anywhere to watch 'The Tudors?' I think I'll have to resort to watching it on-line. I'm off to find a link to this week's 'True Blood' Season Two, episode 11 now for my 'Eric 'n' Bill' fixSome people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever
