Are you connected to the Internet with that laptop(via Ethernet)? If so, you should be able to install the driver using Windows Update.
Right Click on the Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3954ABG Network Connection and select Update Driver and then allow Windows to connect to the Internet in order to find the driver.
I'm not using XP, so maybe someone can give you more exact instructions if mine are lacking.

I've done this but the message I'm getting is Cannot Continue the Hardware Update Wizard and the yellow exclamation mark is still there.0 -

Try this instead: go to Start→Help and Support, select "Keep your computer up-to-date with Windows Update" and - when it appears - click Custom. After a short interval, you should see a list of categories on the left, one of which will be Hardware, Optional followed by a number in brackets. Click on it.0
