Greenpixey, I love the things you've made, the little mascots are adorable. Was talking to you on one of the Christmas threads about amigurumi, now I'm in my new house and with no uni or job to keep me busy I think I'm going to have to force myself how to crochet to stop myself from going insane. Plus I'd like to make some little Christmas gurumi's so I'm going to have to get cracking :D Would love to see pictures of everyone's projects, might give me some inspiration

I love those amigurumis - I've been crocheting for over 40 years (I feel sooo old LOL!) but never seen anything like those. Have bookmarked the books on Amazon - and the link on Ebay for the wool - oh dear!! More stuff for the stockpile!

I'm currently making baby blankets for the 'knit your square to give your share' thread - I've done 6 knitted ones so far and 5 crochet ones - the crochet ones are in 3 ply wool and I've managed to do one a day somedays! And I've just finished a 3 ply shawl for a friend's first baby too - that's about the 5th one I've done in about a year.

Well it beats housework anyway!!! :D

Oh dear - I've bought some of the wool in greenpixey's post above - now all I need is the book and I'm off!

Poor OH is going to be scratching his head with these strange parcels arriving for me - just as well he's off work recovering from an operation and can take them in for me! :rotfl:

Making Amigurumis you crocheting in the round, not back and forth. Look at the link I posted her how to start amigurumi
They show 3 different ways on how to start your circle.
The pattern you like starts with a circle with 6sc on it. Look on the pictures she has put a blue thread to mark the beginning of a round. Move the contrasting thread each time you start a new round to keep track on what you are doing

Admitedly the pattern for the string bean bunny is written badly if you are a beginner. I've started to translate it better for you in green hope it helps otherwise let me know

    EARS
starter ring (Round 1:chain 2 st and crochet 6st in the 2nd ch from the hook, you now got your circle)
*inc all* (x6)(12st) (Round 2:make 2sc in each sc, so you now got 12 st on your circle)
Sc 4 rounds (Round 3-6 crochet 1sc in each sc, you still got 12st in the circle)
*10sc, dec* (x1)(11st) (Round 7: 1 sc in the next 10sc then 1decrease, you should now have 11 st on your circle)
Sc 4 rounds ( Round 8-11: crochet 1sc in each sc, you still got 11 st in the circle)
*9sc, dec* (x1)(10st) (Round 12: 1sc in the next 10sc then 1 decrease you should now have 10st on your circle)
Sc 4 rounds (Round 13-16: crochet 1 sc in each sc )
*8sc, dec* (x1)(9st) (Round 17: 1sc in the next 8sc then 1 dec, you now got 9st on your circle)
*7sc, dec* (x1)(8st)(Round18: 1sc in the next 7sc then 1dec, you now got 8st on your circle)
