Tesco still treats Tomatoes as fruit when trying to redeem a points voucher for vegetables only....when I tried to redeem the fruit voucher against the toms it again rejected it at the till.

Three times I've been told by churlish customer services' staff in Tesco that toms are a fruit so I can't have the points.

Then I feedback to Clubcard on their free phone number and they apologise and give me 100 points, time before they gave me 200 points.

However I no longer feel I can endure the walk of shame from the till where my vouchers are rejected to the customer service desk where I have to argue with snotty staff about tomatoes being a vegetable (as I'm a shopper not a scientist - yeah it's a fruit bcs it's seed bearing but but), lettuce being a vegetable, fish fingers being a frozen product, in fact I'm thinking of making my life a Tesco free zone (once I've used my 100 points) not to mention their Bank!

No, Yorkshire pud, tesco don't class tomotoes as a fruit or a veg. They are a salad <rolls eyes>. Lettuce nd cucumber are also neither fruit nor veg but this mystical class, the salad. I've had them rejected for cc points for either fruit or veg coupons. We can't win!

    It's only a game

  • Be honest, really, really honest. Would you put a tomato in your fruit bowl with the apples, pears etc?. My kids would think I have gone even madder :)

I do...they taste better there rather than living in the fridge.

I suppose I could quote nix v heddon next time I'm in there haggling! But Tesco will probably say they don't come under the jurisdiction of the American courts.

    Don't forget Bananas!

Bananas are a herb not a fruit ;-)
  • I have had similar experiances recently with clubcard vouchers.

    I have been told

Yoghurt is not a dairy product. The sales assistant seemed to genuinely believe this too.

Ice is not a frozen product. Again I asked why not and was told its not food????

An olive ciabatta is not a bakery product.

I have complained and been given the points for these.
