My OH has been off work ill for 4 months and we havent made a claim on the policy. Does this mean that once I receive my cheque I can then make a backdated claim on the policy for the months he was off work due to illness????
Sorry if I am confusing people
I would certainly give it a go beaniebabe. Wait until you get your cheque. I'm sure the FSCS will advise you as they have done Honey2

I dont know if you can but I would certainly try!
Honey 2 didnt the man on the phone say your policy was cancelled from 01/10/09 or did I mis read the post?
This is what I read and is the reason I am somewhat confuseddialysis,mammamia,honey.beaniebabe,saltyfish,funky,Gumbi,Lian,doogle,oldwulf,pinknico,Halpin,alyson,Barloo,jadone,demir,netabc,chickpee,dannyboy,tomgaskel,Lozza001,sandzb,di,marshallka,pengi,lynnie,busbyh,moggy,Kim66,honestbob,tobione,itdonk,arrongborne,thunders,newtonchang,mbones,showergirl, coffeetower,hayston,sappy,dolallytap,AuntieDeedee0 -
That was what I was originally told by C/S - today the tele number in my letter lets me speak to the specialist team who make the decisions - this is not C/S. When I called today they said as my policy is in force I am still covered and can make any claims that I wish to make until the PPI expires at the end of 5 years. I have the choice xc now and get £664.40 back and go else where and get cover till the end of the loan period or keep the PPi in force make a claim for redundancy and then at the end of the PPI term take out a policy else where which covers the loan till it ends.
Am I making sense folks?

Yes you are Honey2, when you think about it, we have been given lots of conflicting info from the call centre and I would think (hope) the specialist advisor knows what he/she is talking about:beer:dialysis,mammamia,honey.beaniebabe,saltyfish,funky,Gumbi,Lian,doogle,oldwulf,pinknico,Halpin,alyson,Barloo,jadone,demir,netabc,chickpee,dannyboy,tomgaskel,Lozza001,sandzb,di,marshallka,pengi,lynnie,busbyh,moggy,Kim66,honestbob,tobione,itdonk,arrongborne,thunders,newtonchang,mbones,showergirl, coffeetower,hayston,sappy,dolallytap,AuntieDeedee0 -

This is what I read and is the reason I am somewhat confused
The point to remember is "The compensation aims to put you back in the financial position you would have been in had you not received the insurance ADVICE" and is not, put you in the position you would have been in had you not received the PPI policy. I think!!!!!

I think the man at the FSCS was playing safe by giving it until Monday, I wouldn't be suprised if I got something tomorrow:T:T
Hope you get yours Di. XX
If there is nothing here by Monday I will defo be doing a Honey2

Was your big fat cheque posted out first class????0 -

This is what she meant the policy is in force and does not xc - we are being compensated for bad advice not of the PPI policy. Also someone posted (sorry cant remeber who) tonight that their OH has been ill for 4 mths - my letter also stated less £0.00 already paid in previous claims. If I had claimed on the policy and claimed for a couple of months then the figure I received would have been deducted from my compensation claim.
