    Dear ......

    Decision letter

We have looked at your claim and found you are eligible for compensation. Please find enclosed cheque made payable to .......

The total compensation loss amounts to £12,684.50 as at 21/9/09 of which £11,816.05 is payable. This is because the FSCS can only pay 90% of the loss above £2,000 on any claim against the same firm or person.

    YOUR CLAIM

The compensation aims to put you back in the financial position you would have been in had you not received the insurance advice. The compensation only covers actual losses. It does not aim to cover future or hypothetical losses.

Please note your PPI will remain in force unless you choose to cancel it direct with your insurer.

Compensation has been calculated as follows:

    Original PPI Premium £10.479.00

Plus Interest - this is the amount of interest your lender has already charged you to date on the amount of the premium £2.808.08

    Less benefits received £0.00

Less rebate due upon cancellation - this is the amount you will receive back from the insurer if you cancel your PPI policy now. You will need to contact the insurer and arrange to do this direct £664.40

Plus a reasonable rate of return - this amount is to compensate you for the monthly payments you have made in respect of the PPI premium £61.82

    Equals compensation figure £12,684.50

FSCS is making payment to you based on the information provided to us. Please note if you bank the cheque you are accepting payment in full and final settlement of your claim for compensation from FSCS and in discharge of FSCS's obligation to you. You will also transfer to SCS your rights against the firm and third parties.

if you do not agree with the amount we have calculculated then keep the cheque but do not bank it. Please write to us explaining why you disagree and provide evidence in support of your argument.

If you have any questions please call.

    Yours sincerely

I telephoned to query PPI - the FSCS advised that the policy remains in force to the end of the 5 year period and i can make claims against redundancy etc however if I can cel the PPi now then I will receive a refund of £664.40.

If I can give any more info please let me know

    Honey 2 xx

Many thanks Honey2, I will digest the info and get back to you shortly.

Can I ask you a few things.;)

What the the amount you actually rcd. was it £12684.50
How many payments did you make.
    How long was the term.

How long is left of the 5 year policy. I'm really surprised you are still covered. You would have to work out if it is best to claim the £664 or did you say your oh has been made redundant. May be better claiming.

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to add up amounts:beer:
