Found an old email sent from the FOS in regards of the Nemo, of when they mis calculated, the FOS fowarded the email onto us as below, so at least it shows that the FOS does check calculations, as it was them that raised this issue up with Nemo and not us.
Dear (FOS),
Further to recent discussions and emails regarding this matter, please find attached an up to date calculation in relation to the complaint that we have been instructed to uphold. My previous calculation was incorrect, as I had deducted the rebate from the redress total, when in fact this had been accounted for in the settlement figure. I have also removed the £175 security release fee from the settlement figure prior to undertaking the calculation, as this is a flat fee charged on settlement regardless of whether the customer had PPI.
The upshot is that I have calculated the total redress figure as £12,772.32. As we have already issued a cheque for the amount of £10,747.61 I intend to issue a cheque for the amount of £2,024.71 to settle this matter. Please let me know if you agree with this amount. I have attached a breakdown of the calculation for your information.
If you agree, I will arrange for our Finance Department to draw up the cheque and we should be able to finalise this case in the next couple of days.
Regards,
Complaints Manager
