cmorgan wrote:The radio is fantastic. The only problem with it is the central navigation button which is used for turning the radio on and off and controlling volume and changing stations. I find this very fiddly and often find I am turning the volume up or down instead of turning the thing off (this may have improved on the latest model?!).
I agree, we do exactly the same thing! As we use it in the bedroom away from the bedside table, a remote would also be nice. Picked it up over a year ago from Boots online with a combined special offer and points deal for an effective cost of around £90. I particularly like to two alarms feature. I use one for MON-FRI and one for SAT & SUN. I experimented with the software upgrade and program guide but didn't bother after it took so long to populate. The instructions note that the Bug can be a bit fussy about the make of SD cards you use. They recommend Sandisk, Viking or Panasonic. You can get a 1GB Viking SD card from eBuyer for £18.99 inc. VAT and P&P at the moment.

Thanks for the info! :T0 -
I`ve read on Dvd reviewer site that the display is very bright, ie when being used as an alarm clock. What do people think who have one, can the brightness be reduced.0

I am after buying another Dab Digi Radio. I really do not like the look of the Bug but have seen a DUAL in Asda for £34.97. There is virtually no info on the box. I do not want to do anything fancy, just switch on and listen. Does anyone know anything about this model?SallyD0

I had one as a present when they first came out (not from the closet!! :rotfl: )
I love it. :j
Yes you can adjust brightness on display. You can also adjust the information on screen and the stand-by animations.
Also you can down-load free updated software from their web site. For all bug info google Pure Bug DAB Radio (sorry do not have link at hand), but their official web-site has loads of info. It's a bug club!!

From reading the manual(Not many people actually do this) you can turn the backlight off, and the standby light is fully adjustable.
Display backlight options
Choose whether you want non-existent or Blackpool-illumination-style backlighting using these options. Push the
Menu button, select Display options and choose from the following options. If you set these options to Off, any button
press will switch on the backlight on for a few seconds to allow you to view what is on screen.
Brightness
Select the backlight brightness you want for when your Bug is switched on. Use the
navigator to choose between the options.
Standby brightness
Select the backlight brightness you want for when your Bug is in standby. Use the
navigator to choose between the options.0 -

It is not really fully adjustable in that you can't incrementally turn it down until it disappears altogether. You just have options of Low, Medium, High and Off.
How can I tell you how bright it is? Hard really. I know some people complain about it being too bright - even on the low setting - but it doesn't bother me at all. You can't read a book by it but it doesn't leave the room in pitch darkness either.0 -
Well I ordered 1 :j am very excited about getting it up and running (hoping it's not too complicated!).0
