Quite right custardy! ...OH shift starts at 9.45am and finishes at 6pm, without a break most of the time. He enjoys the bacon rolls from the elfs too!;)

Regarding overtime....what overtime?? last he had was December 2008, when the christmas fairies brought him mince pies & turkey butties! :p

No gripes, he loves the job, has great customer service but fed up with unions and management getting in the way!

    HP x

PS - BFG (or anyone else) you are more than welcome to try his 3 hour day...which somehow miraculously turns into 9 hours!

because you had 30,000+ more postal staff
a loss making residential mail service funded by business customers
and a total waste of time 2nd delivery which was basically taking the dregs of mail left from posties leaving so early

i would love to be out early doors but it seems everyone wants good old loss making royal mail without an answer to making money.
last Saturday i had a woman complaining about knocking her door so early as she had kids.10.30am that was

I always thought the "second delivery" was an urban myth. Never had one in any of the houses I've lived in in my 57 years.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

    not at all
before my time in RM but i remember 2nd post deliveries
not getting a 2nd delivery just meant you got all your mail in the 1st delivery in most cases.
from speaking to people who worked in RM it was a nonsense really
posties would take out a handful of letters covering multiple duties. not all did 2nd deliveries because of this.
those were the days when posties did 3 hour days!!
I've only been in RM for about 4 years(long enough!!) and the changes have been massive.
when i started it was 5am starts and around 11am finishes
however quiet days and Saturdays could be much earlier.used to be i needed my torch when i started delivering between 7-8am
soon we will need one to finish
however there is a flip side.back then the office was 100% cleared every day,not a letter or packet left. SD items went early on the van so most were done before 8am
nowadays i often have to change my delivery around to meet the 1pm target.

lol well rather interestingly you can complain about the 6am delivery
deliveries should not commence before 7am

There used to be a commonly used expression in composing business mail... "(please reply) by return of post". I guess that gives the recipient about a week nowadays! :D

Seriously people, how often do you we really NEED to get a letter delivered quickly.....virtually never.

If we went to a once a week delivery I genuinely don't feel we'd be that much worse off.
