rog please don't let the actions of a few narrow minded posters stop you posting anywhere on MSE but equally please don't carry on an argument from another thread.

Last night's threads were designed to cause trouble and it has worked, don't let that continue and rise above it.

Martin and the team spend a good deal of time discussing the introduction of new boards and you can be sure that both boards are very much wanted and interlinked by them, the people who matter.

Unless I'm posting a new thread I rarely pay any attention to what board I'm looking at. I just sit on 'View New Posts'. I don't think anyone should be barred from any forum. A piece of advice given in one, can benefit many others.

Talk about creating barriers for the sake of it.

:DRog don't you dare leave DFW (or I will have to kill you)

Seriously, there is no room for people getting all holier than thou or
clique-y (if there is such a word). All contributors to the forums are either in debt, or have once been in debt, or want to avoid being in debt. No one solution is better than another, each person has to find their own way out of their financial messes and no solution is perfect for everyone. The person whose posting has upset you has obviously missed the point of the whole MSE/DFW thing and needs to read Martin's message at the top of the forum (the one that is in big writing, about not being judgemental but being supportive).

Please stay Rog, who else would you chunter to about your employers but us? And who else can give the advice and support you give?

Edi, i dont believe the threads in question were designed to cause trouble, merely to allow discussion, which is exactly what has happened.

  • Rog don't stop posting you offer lots of good advice and have so much knowledge.

I can't understand why there is a problem with the bankruptcy/DFW, if you have debt and want to get it sorted you need advice about all the options, you need both boards and all posters.

rog and everyone one else in the BR forum, DFW needs you. And most of us love and respect you.

Apart from anything else, there are folk who turn up on the BR forum in a panic-stricken response to a DCA threat who need DFW, people who arrive on DFW and need to at least consider BR and once someone has gone BR a good many benefit from the budgetting tricks on DFW.

It is essential that folk know there way round both related areas.

Personally, having seen the stress and heart-break many people experience in the run up to going BR, I fully understand why others on the forum congratulate them and have done so myself. Contrary to some people's thoughts, BR is not a bed of roses, but sometimes has fewer thorns than the alternatives.

I can also see why someone coming to the forum cold and seeing a congratulations thread without any link to the past might be surprised, but that is their issue, not yours.

let them get on with it.

  • ME personally I couldnt care less if a poster is paying off thier debts/becoming bankrupt/or moving from the former to the latter. The two board to me are seen as one, everyone on both boards are trying to reach the same goal. How they decided to complete the journey is down to them and there personal circumstances. I read BR hand in hand with DFW the only difference being I dont post on BR because I dont have anything solid to base any of my responses on.

We regards to people who have become BR posting on DFW why not? Once someone is BR they dont suddenly become affluent in money, they dont suddenly get a better way of budetting and they certainly still need the support. If they can find knowledge and understanding using both the BR and DFW boards they whats the problem? I have certainly learned a fair amount from those that post on both boards and without the BR boards I wouldnt have learnt a bit to pass onto those on DFW. The reasons why (I see) they were split was because it was hard for those who knew about BR to find the BR related posts on DFW. This way those who know more about BR can help out those without treading water so to speak. People should remember we are all under one umbrella, money saving expert (MSE) it doesnt matter how you save money we are all on here for the same reasons.

As for the subject of the thread I dont see why there is a problem with being 'congratulated' for becoming BR. Many of the posters on the BR board dont use bankruptcy as a free get out clase, they dont run up thousands of pounds worth of debt for fun. Many of the posters I have read about have sadly had tragic circumstances and personal problems that have resulted in debt mounting to a point where a DMP/IVA would be impossible. Therfore months and sometimes years have been taken up worrying about their debt/problems to the point where marraiges break down and illness' are common. At the point of someone becoming bankrupt its the last thing they can do and its the freedom they need. Therfore its not so much a 'congratulations' more of a well done or facing your problems and dealing with them instead of hoping they go away.

I would be the first to miss Rog and many other of the other full time/old'er DFW/BR posters. Once you are debt free you want to pass on any knowledge/advice you can to help new posters and being on these boards also help you keep your finances in order too. After all if it wasnt for these full time/old'er DFW/BR posters all the newbies will not get there posts/questions answered.

People are free to have thier own opinions and can state them anywhere including on other boards. However once you have stated your opinion there is no need to bring it to a personal level.

A lot of us on the BR board started out on DFW - the boards are interlinked and will remain so.

As has already been mentioned, when you see that rog has posted, it means its a well thought out and factual piece. Rarely are your posts clouded; but in the same vein, stop arguing on DT!!! It winds you up (we can tell!) and it doesn't get anyone anywhere. Besides, we know we are always right. ;)

    EDIT:
Nope sorry. Despite my better judgment, I have had to amend my post. Don't you dare stop posting Rog, Don't you dare. You are far better than that.

Crazy idea. We're all in varying degrees of financial difficulty and need help, support and advice. Arguing and getting territorial about boards is just ridiculous,narrow-minded and helps nobody.

    Hello
    Here's my 2p's worth

I thought it was an open board? Aren't they all?

Therefore no one can be excluded from any boards unless they are being

    Quoting from upon high

Otherwise anyone can post anywhere - I thought it was an 'open door' policy - I frequent DFW boards but have linked, lurked and posted elsewhere - aren't we a big happy family of folks trying to help each other? I take advice from all quarters, have thought about bankrupcy and IVA and have ended up on DFW/OS threads - mainly cos its my own suited and chosen path, and being happy and debt free by whichever route is the end game for many of us all I thought - by whichever path we choose?

NO offence meant - x I hope all is well.
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
