Should posters on the Bakruptcy Board be excluded from posting on DFW?

This is a public forum, surely anyone can post anywhere, you will always get judgemental people where ever you go, and as my mum used to say "there but by the grace of god go I", we are here to help each other I have found everyones input invaluable.Debt Free Dec 2009non-smoker 19th Nov 2010Trying to lose weight 40lb/42lb

Hi rog2
I made it back - to others rog2 and I have chatted on the other thread re BR and DFW of which I frequent very little in the past 2-3 years.
Please can I say to those who have said they don't stray too far from DFW please do - the wealth of information on the old style board, the health board, insurances, quick grabbits are all relevant to those using this board. Without the culmination of all boards on this forum I wouldn't have been able to deal with my debts.

Well I'm in agreement with the others on here, FGS this is supposed to be a site where anyone should feel comfortable posting on any of the boards and not get a personal slating for their actions, but help and advice if that is what is requested.
We have a lot of debt and luckily have a high enough income to cover the repayments and some, I have never been in arrears, defaulted on anything, never had a CCJ or anything, all the debt we have is through overspending, not that I'm proud of that mind...
BUT, tomorrow I could lose my job, so could dh, then we would be stuffed, would I look at going on a DMP for the rest of my life? hell no, I would look at bankruptcy, yes while I have every intention of doing my damnedest to pay off what I owe, if my circumstances changed which meant I would be saddled with that debt for the rest of my life or choose BR then yes it's something I would seriously consider.
So it always makes me smile when I see people get on their high and mighty horses about bankrupts as if it is an easy way out of debt, of course it's not easy! yes its easy to look in from the outside and think 'great, debts written off woohoo!' but the reality of it is most bankrupts have faced a fair few sleepless nights, harrassment and absolute hell prior to going BR, and following BR their lives while debt free are far from easy for a long time
everyone deserves a second chance in life, there are some mean and horrid people on this forum (not necessarily this board) and it makes me so angry that people are so opinionated about others whom they know so little about
So Rog2, please please don't stop posting on DFW, I would much rather take advice from someone who has been through bankruptcy regarding my debt situation than someone who had never had any debts in their lifeAug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00 -
I see the boards as being linked - those that are declared bankrupt are also wanting to be debt free and some of those on the DFW board can also find themselves in the unfortunate situation of becoming bankrup - we hope not but it can so easily happen. Bankruptcy is sometimes forced on people by outside forces - for business people it is those that don't get their invoices paid thus they can't pay the HMRC what they are owed and sometimes the HMRC will close someone down. I don't think people should be stigmatised if they have to go down that route - bankruptcy is more prevalent today than it was say 20 years ago but times have changed - banks don't lend money and people are holding on to what little they have.
Rog - I would hate it if you stopped posting on DFW, you give good advice and you make me laugh - you brighten otherwise gloomy days:D
Don't let the words of a this judgemental individual drive you away - after all MSE is about being non-judgemental.
At least having a separate bankruptcy board makes it easier for people as that way their postings are not lost in the equally busy DFW board. Both boards give good advice about debt and how to reduce it and they should remain linked.0 -

just because one person suggested dfw did not want to be associated with bankrupts does not mean the forums are swarming with bankruptcy bashers trying to upset people
however i think bankruptcy bashing will be on the up if the only representative for the cause over there is headinsand....We cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses. Carl Jung

I don't think thats true at all. Much of the advice on getting debt free counts for those who have had to go bankrupt as well. Also those that have gone bankrupt have often been through a long time trying to deal with their debt another way and can offer valuable advice.
A lot of people seam to think that those of us who are paying off our debts should look down on people who have gone bankrupt. Which is not the case at all for a lot of us its a case of there but for the grace of god go I."You are entitled to your own opinions but not your own facts" - Arthur Schlesinger

Rog2, I personally think both boards are linked and although I'm not bancrupt, I often lurk over there and have a good read of peoples often inspirational stories.
Please don't stop posting on here, or anyone else from the Bancrupt board. That would just be daft. One persons opinion isn't all our opinions.

I think the suggestion would go against the ethos of these boards & the fact that, as I see it, the majority are here to help, advise and support each other, irrespective of where they post.@ LBM = £15,872.65, now £10,819.82AF Jan = 7/?
