Should posters on the Bakruptcy Board be excluded from posting on DFW?

It has been suggested, by one poster, whose anonymity I will try my best to protect, that the 'Bankruptcy and Living With It' board was only made into a board 'in its own right' because it was 'causing too much trouble'.
Whilst I, personally, prefer to believe Martin Lewis' explanation, in that the Bankruptcy sub board was becoming too large, especially with the need for an IVA sub board, I wish to give this poster a chance to put his/her views to the DFW board, as a whole.

The same poster goes on to say that, on behalf of DFW that;
'DFW do not feel linked with BR and we are certainly not proud of them.'

If this is, indeed, the opinion of the majority, on DFW, then I, for one, will bow to that opinion and will cease, forthwith, posting here, but I would like your advice first.

The post, to which I refer, can be seen on - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=24385495

Thank you.

I feel the boards are very much linked, inevitably there is much common ground. Many people on both boards refer to the other as a sister board and will refer new people to whichever is most suitable. Both boards have a good community feel, though the bankruptcy board seems to get more 'attacks' than DFW.

Rog - I for one would be very disappointed if you stopped posting on DFW as your advice and knowledge is most useful - and Gargrave would be very upset if you were not about - you are her own personal hero at the moment!!

Please stick around and ignore the bankruptcy bashers.:kisses3:

    Hi

I'm astonished by this suggestion, no one should be made to be feel ashamed that they decided to take the BR route, it isn't right for eveyone but for some its the difference between wanting to end their life and feeling that they are able to continue living.
When someone has a debt problem and seek advice from a proffessional they will be told about all the options open to them and BR may well be one of those options, why shouldn't someone that has experienced it give their opinion on someones situation?

Personally this isn't my opinion and wish people wouldn't label their own thoughts/feeling as if they are speaking for everbody. Rog, I have been on these boards for almost 2 years now and although I have never personally had any advice from you, I can honestly say hand on heart that you're one of the most consistent/helpful people on this site with the time you take to reply/give solid advice to those who seek it.

From MY point of view, I would seriously not take any notice of the person who posted the above statement, She/he certainly does not speak for ME, as I for one need to know people like you are around to help others. To me it really does not matter how we all eventually manage to get rid of our debts, some like me feel like we need to pay it all back as we got the money and spent it, maybe others can't copy with the stress and feel BR is the answer, but I'm certainly do not think any of use should judge and certainly I'm old enough not to have somebody assume that making such a sweeping statement is the voice of all!

So in other words from me at least, keep posting/giving advice, you're certainly needed.

From those that have commented on that thread, how many of them have helped others rather than just chatted on the forum?

I can see there are quite a few personal attacks going on in that thread, which is one of the reasons i don't stray far from the DFW board. I wouldn't rise to the bait Rog. Is there anyone who has posted there who's opinion you value or matters to you?

When it comes to debt, experience counts - and you have that even if some of it you would rather forget. You are an asset to the forum and you have helped hundreds of people on the DFW board. You not only give good, sound advice, but you back this up with fact and legislation. By all means take a bow, but don't bow out.

I'm with whats already been said so far.
Br isn't right for everyone but thats not to put anyone down who chooses or is forced into this route.
There will always be people who like to think they're speaking for everyone when they're not, and that opinion certainly isn't one I, as a DFW share.
Lets all continue posting and sharing our experiences together I say.
Just to add I for one would be really sad if Rog2 stopped posting on the DFW board, I have been helped loads by great advice given to me personally and through reading advice to others.

You may do either, elentan. The particular poster had, previously, thanked me, on may occasions, for the advice that I have been able to direct her towards, indeed has acted upon much of that advice in the past. Indeed he/she has posted frequently on both the DFW and the Bankruptcy boards.

I could both laugh and cry myself.

I'm on dfw - on the dmp support thread usually.

I'm on a dmp but to be honest, if something happened to my job or OH's job I'd be straight on the bankruptcy board as that would pretty much be my only other option.

Reading the some bits of the bankruptcy board have helped me realise it's not the worst thing in the world to happen and helped me realise that I do have an alternative option if something happens.

To know I would have the huge support that many here have had, and that all my questions would be able to be answered if that time came, is a comfort to me.

I'm on a dmp because at the moment I can pay back my debts in a reasonable timescale. I'm certainly not ashamed of anyone who has chosen or had to go bankrupt.

Some are so deep into their debt that they don't realise bankruptcy may be an option for them - the fact that the br peeps help check if they have homes, cars, jobs that could be at risk means that they know what their full options are.

Ignore 'em, Rog - I, for one, physically relax when I see your name in a thread, and it carries a guarantee of thoughtful and well considered input, especially on CCAs! :)

As to BR, what sane (or non-criminal) person would WANT to go bankrupt? It's not exactly the idea way to win friends and influence employers etc., is it? As far as I can tell, the BR boards aren't about congratulating each other on 'avoiding' their debts, but rather supporting each other through what will likely be one of the most traumatic, soul destroying experiences of their lives...

Besides, if we followed the logic they are employing, then perhaps I (as a Mortgage Free Wannabee whose only other debt is her student loan) shouldn't be posting on the DFW boards either - except perhaps to make high horse moralistic remarks about people who get into debt...

So, I may not be a DWF, but I say on my own behalf that I'd be sad to see you not posting here...
