Care to explain why that should be? This is the 21st century for most of us, obviously not CPW.

I can give you a reason why. Note:- I am not defending this, just explaining.

The obvious question is "If a company can take money from my card over the phone, why can't they return it as quickly?" Seems very reasonable.

However, there is a vast difference in allowing a number of members of staff to collect money this way and giving the same dispensation for the same number to pay out money.

So, for good business reasons, not to mention auditors' requirements, there needs to be in place a sufficiently robust system that has a paperwork train and only a much smaller number of staff who are authorised to raise credits. In a number of cases, this would require dual signature.

Having got the paperwork in place - or the correct input screen completed - this then needs to go via the accounts section to either produce the cheque or create a direct credit payment. If the latter, that takes 3 days to clear. And some companies only have 1 payment run per week.

Such are the processes of big business.

As I said at the beginning, this is an explanation, not a defence or any form of support for the status quo.

That is utter botox, that may well be how CPW operates, but not how a reputable company functions.

I am still waiting for a cheque from CPW from over 14 days ago, I was told that it could take up to 28 days ..

I have had refunds processed by other decent companies the very same day.

    CPW are a shambles IMO.

It is NOT botox. Having direct experience of a considerable number of companies through my work- none of them in the mobile phone field - that is EXACTLY the way that many large businesses control payments and payment cycles.

I have no love for CPW. I stated that I didn't defend this procedure, I offered an explantion why it could take a seemingly disproportionate time for some organisations to process payments as opposed to the rapidity at which they can process taking your money.

I equaly agree that other organisations have procedures that have considerably shortened timescales. But CPW are not by any means unique in not having a "same day" refund cycle.

Well it is time that they all got their act together if that is the case, if reputable companies can process a refund almost immediately, the technology must be available to all, including CPW.

Even the dreaded BT managed to refund me within 24 hours for a duplicate payment they had helped themselves to.

It's not technology, let me assure you. It is internal procedures. For example, a very reputable company that I have close ties with only has 1 payment run per week and if you miss getting the authorised documents on the system by the closing date, then it's next week till a payment is made (except in dire emergencies).

All to do with "efficiency" !!icon12.gif

Don't think it's anything to do with cpw, there was a thread on the complaints board disscussing this but regarding other companies. The length of time it takes is down to the bank apparently http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1863563

Sorry, I don't buy in to that, some banks are slower in processing refunds than others granted, however I am still waiting about 16 days for a refund from CPW, no bank takes that long, it is CPW, they even told me that it could take up to 28 days.

I was told that they process cheques in Portugal, not sure if that was true or just more waffle.
