Carphone Warehouse have stolen my money!!!

So after having to use Carphone Warehouse as a last resort, because I have had so many problems buying phones from them before but they are the only people who can provide me with an iphone at present.


So I ring today, get approved for a new contract, and all that is left to do is for the sales guy to take £87.11, so he takes all my details and then checks again and then decides to tell me it has not gone through and do I have another card to process the payment on, to which I tell him NO as I am a little suss, I think he got a little !!!!ed off when I didnt take any insurance or extras which is obvioulsy where the sales guys make their money.

So I ring my bank to find out if the problem was there end to be told that Carphone warehouse have taken £87.11 not only once but twice, So im down £200.

I ring him back and get told, sorry there is nothing he can do and that he can ring me back later if I have another credit card to make payment for a new phone, for which I tell him where to go.

So they have taken £174.22 from my account and they can not refund this for 3 - 4 days, which is ridiculous, my bank cant do anything either.

So they have taken my money twice without my authorisation and I still cant get a new iphone unless I give them another credit card for the £87.11 to go through and be processed.


So I have spoken to customer service and they have said the exact same as the sales guy, but I am now down £200 which I had put aside to buy the new phone.

Is there anything I can do as I still cant get a pocy phone and im still £200 down.

Someone HELP!!!!

    I'm just a little confused here. They've taken the payment twice, which can sometimes happen if you get a thick tw*t who can't process payments correctly. So why can't they supply the phone and then refund one of the payments? Why do they need a different card?

    They have now said that the card I used (which he took 2 payments from) has now been locked out by there security thing for 30 days, so he cant process it and he cant take another payment from it, so I need another card to complete the purchase.

    In that case, it sounds like it was their fault. You have to insist that they recredit your account today. Tell them they're going to be liable for any bank charges you get because they took too much money. Then get a new phone from somewhere else.

    If I was a vindictive person, which I'm not, I would be tempted to stand outside their shop and tell every customer who's thinking of going in what they did. They'll sort it out then. ;)
  • Thats all very well and good and I have told them that, but all they keep telling me is that its going to take up to 4 days!

    I want my !!!!!!! money back now!

    Life is not perfect, not much you can do really if you don't have another card, your going to get your money back in the end

    I would vote with your feet, get your refund early next week-and then go and buy your iPhone from an O2 shop instead.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

    Ring their complaints line and ask them to sort it for you. They are able to process a refund just as quickly as they process a payment. If that doesn't work go into a CPW branch at a busy shopping centre and create a real fuss. If they say they will call the police let them - tell them you will ask the police to take a theft report.
