Dont ever ever give up...put it in writing and keep calling

I just recieved a call from the correspondence dept confirming my new plan ..i asked them if i could get the unlimited landline calls that i had with the original plan.
Very nice lady said there wasnt a bundle available but would give me an extra 200 mins on top.

    I'm not following this well.

You have little or no coveragem you wanted to cancel and your happy they've given you more minutes. If you could not use the original minutes how can you expect to use more? And if you so unhappy why have you just commited to a new contacrt with Orange?

Thats correct i have no coverage at home....i spend more of my time away from home now though.
Realised i couldnt cancel..it is a new contract just 3 months old, just wanted to get a plan that was better value for money...originally had 900 mins and 500 txts but only ended up using 300 and 150.
Orange initially told me nothing could be done until 6 months was up and then would only be able to drop the tariff by a max of £5 over the course of the contract.
Wrote to correspondence dept and as a result got inclusives reduced to 600mins 300 txts.... with lots of internet and email for £10 a month less than i was paying before. Been looking about and cant find a deal with a free W995 that matches it.
Im v. happy considering all i have read on here and other sites aboout contracts not being renegotiated for lack of coverage:beer:.
  • The first place you should call is Trading Standards or OFCOM. OFCOM are on your side when it comes to Networks selling contracts and people not having reception. Take a look at thkis link

not sure how that at all related to the reception of signal. No provider claims 100% coverage of the UK

I had a signal issue where I was about 6 months into my contract and all of a sudden I got no signal for long periods, it took me 6 months to get out of my contract, I admit at first I didn't really try to do anything about it just ringing when I got the time however after getting fed up of paying for something I wasn't receiving I decided to try and get it sorted, it took me 4 weeks ringing everyday and in the end I spoke to Ofcom and they opened a case for me and gave me a number that put me through to someone higher in the CS department at orange, a few more phone calls and they agreed to cancel my contract and give me a back payment of the 6 months I had not received sufficient coverage, the following report may of had something to do with it http://stuff.tv/News/Ofcom-gets-tough-on-mobile-phone-mis-selling/13277/ as they cancelled my contract on the same day maybe just coincidence, anyway just make sure you never give up!
  • update-ironically my signal has returned -i dont know if it was a nearby mast that was down or wot but thankfully i can make calls inside my house now

Just to clarify - if the signal goes because of what THEY have done, then yes you can get out of your contract.

If you have no signal at home you usually have around 14 days to reject the contract - after that your SOL.
