orange no coverage&contract negotiation

Hi all.... im 2 months into a 18 contract with Orange, unfortunately i have very little or no coverage at my home address.

I was not aware of this situation until after i commited to the contract, i was with O2 for 7 yrs with no coverage probs at all.

As a result of this i have had to use my landline significantly more than i had planned, in excess of £30 a month more to be exact.
Subsequently my first two bills from Orange have shown only 350 mins of talk usage with a 900 min deal!!

I called Orange customer services yesterday and they said they would enquire as to what could be done and said they would call me back within the hour..didnt here from them all day until recieving a text at 9pm asking me to call 244 to leave feedback:rotfl:so it was big fat zeros all round!!

Called today and spoke to a very understanding technical guy who wasnt afraid to say what he thought, he spoke with customer services and they said there was nothing they could do and i had to wait 9 months and they can only reduce the tariff by £5 over course of contract anyway.

I suggested that i continue to pay the full tariff rate but they reduce my inclusive minutes to 400 and give me some inclusive web access instead.
Again this was a no goer!!.

He suggested i start the paper trail and write to Bristol correspondence...can anybody give some advice as how to proceed with this matter as im struggling with this one a bit
Cheers

Expect to be disappointed. You hace a service contract, and you have only 14 days to ensure it meets you needs, otherwise repudiation is impossible. In my case, my excellent service from Orange took a hit when they moved the local base station - I got no service, and told there was nothing they could do.

I'd suggest you switch to PAYG in future, its stops the lock-in, and you stay in control, permanently!

    what phones have you got??
:p It is better to be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and remove all doubt
  • Thanks for all the replies..its a W995
Managed to do some work on my virgin landline and reduced the cost of my phone calls with them a little.
Just seems v unfair that because of Oranges lack of coverage im financiallly worse off and unable to get full use from my contract.
Wont make the same mistake again...still gonna write to them though

sell it on ebay and buy a uma phone. Blackberry 8900 curve 6301 and a few others work through your home broadband to give you signal at home. i don't haver coverage in my house and it works brilliantly for me!

Wouldnt i need to have Orange home broadband to do that?.....also the camera is the important factor for me, hardly use mobile internet so Blackberry not much use to me.
Is there a quality camera phone that works through home broadband?
Good idea though..specially as can get good price for 995 right now

UMA will work with any broadband provider, the best UMA/camera phone would be the LG KF757 Secret, it has a 5mp camera
  • How are you doing with this dilemma? I'm in the same boat.. I'm thinking about just cancelling the direct direct and not paying Orange.. I'm paying them now for something I cant use..
