Hehe only kidding Sal
Karma, I take it you mean herb fennel rather Florence Fennel? I would just soak the ground so it's easy to get out, dig it out with a trowel and pop it in a pot - should be fine.
I bought something... clothes wise.. but it was free - phew! Really worn out my old hooded top wearing it for running in the cold weather, so got a new one for normal wear - I like to stick it on round the house/ in the garden etc. Found one on Amazon for £9.95 inc postage (rrp £42.99, yeah right) and had a £10 voucher so cost me nothing
*long story alert*
When I'd finished doing that, Mr Squizz went onto the PC to do some surveys that he hadn't been able to do at work because they needed sound. Of course they have the normal questions... age.. sex... marital status... options 1 - single, 2 - married/ living together.. (I'm sitting next to him at this point)... he says "I never know what to put there, I'm definitely not single... and we're living together 90% of the time". I say "do you want me to go away while you fill that bit in?" :rotfl:... he picks married/ living together. I say "do you want me to go home more often to make your survey answers easier?".. he says "noooooo!"
There's a question about things you might or might not do in the next 3-4 years, go on long haul holidays etc.. apparently Mr S thinks it's unlikely he will be planning a wedding, although he didn't pick "definitely not"!
*there is a brief interlude here where we go downstairs and have lemon cheesecake and wine, and the cat plonks itself across both of us on the sofa*
I thought that the survey had presented a good opportunity so I said "so, do you want me to go home at any point?" - he said "no, not really.. it's up to you" - I said "I don't really want to, but I'm aware that it's easier for me to say 'I'm going home tonight'... I'm happy being here all the time but it's your house and I wasn't really sure how much you want me here" - he said he would tell me if he wanted me to but he didn't.. I think I said "good" :rotfl:
Now.. wait... this isn't quite leading where you think... he then asks about when my parents are coming to visit and we end up having a conversation about when we can fit in going to visit his parents. I sort of get it back to talking about my flat as I say I will have to get the hot water fixed before my parents come down.. and I don't know if I should ask my landlady about the cheaper flat next door as I'm hardly spending any time there. He says "well, you should definitely get your water sorted out" and I just said if it's not we will all have to troop round to his for showers, which he says is OK.
So, I'm none the wiser really! I think I'll revisit it after my parents have been (in a couple of weeks), I wouldn't ask for them to be able to stay at his yet as he hasn't met my dad, and none of his relatives have stayed there yet. Maybe he isn't quite ready/ sure yet.. I realised I don't know anything about his past long term relationships except that he lived with them both, and how long they lasted, so maybe he isn't ready to do that again quite yet... still at least I'm sure that he does want me to be there all the time so that is a little bit of progress!
Thank *insert preferred deity/ chocolate bar* it's Friday... tomorrow I'm attempting to run 16 miles :eek:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Squizz!:rotfl: Seriously, maybe he's a bit wounded from those past living together experiences. And he's not going to put "definitely" on that survey yet....
Still. I understand the level of caution you're expressing, but next time you manage to say something about this, you might word it as a positive statement, not a negative question: i.e. "I like being here with you"! You keep asking him if he wants you to go home - and thats actually asking him to make all the running - which he doesn't sound ready to do, bless 'im.
Moving to the cheaper flat might be a really good idea anyway - he sees you as living together right now, according to what he put on the survey (and in reality, of course, you are!) but it also sounds like he needs that safety stop of you both still having different places.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Wise as ever Karma
It did make me realise that I don't know those things about his past relationships - I don't particularly want to know either - he doesn't know a huge amount about mine either and I'm quite happy to keep it that way - although he does know a few things that I felt were important as they explain the way I act at times. At least I know things are going in a good direction, and there is no rush really. Of course, maybe he just doesn't want all my junk in his nice tidy house :rotfl:
My extra £50 went into my account today - I have £179 exactly (plus about a fiver in my purse plus £40 on the 'come on Ryanair sale' card). And it is ten days till payday - not bad at all.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Oi :rotfl: never mind the sarcy blue face when you call me wise! I'm Buddha, me, didn't you realise
Btw, thanks for the tip on the fennel - there's one huge bulb that I don't think I'd better move, but maybe the smaller self seeded ones really would come out of the ground. My rellies in Norwich have done that, I saw them with pots of fennel when I was there.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

It wasn't sarcy, I can't find a 'wise' smily but I think the blue one seems rather calm and knowing
Sure the smaller ones will come out OK. Going to try growing some fennel this year - not done it before.
Seedlings are doing pretty well so far - we seem to have about 30 baby brussel sprout plants.. that might be too many :rotfl:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Oopsie - ah well, we're mates, what can I say?
30 brussel sprout plants ... well, sprouts are nice - and they're easy to harvest, no digging underground for them at least. I'll be doing the fennel in a couple of weeks time, I'll let you know how it goes.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
We need a wise smiley..but this will do!
They are nice but I'm not quite sure where they're all going to go - I think some might have to be fostered out!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Thats brilliant! Now we need a clever smiley too :rotfl::T:A2023: the year I get to buy a car0
