I know Pooky - it's just a shame we're both rubbish at starting conversations about such things!
Yep you can offer a few hours help on various projects on Landshare - might see how time-consuming our own stuff is first! Still not heard anything back from the gardening therapy people.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I'm with Pooky on this, finally!
Recycling - remember that you can't put eggshells in the compost, they just don't break down. What *is* brilliant tho, is if you dry them (just put them back in the boxes at the back of the fridge and leave them alone, or at the bottom of the oven when you're cooking or something) and then break them up into teensy pieces - you can scatter them round a special plant, and its good slug protection and good for the soil (eventually).2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Oh, I didn't know that, sure I've read that you could put egg shells in!
My lip balms arrived, they are loooovely - smell gorgeous!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Ooh, look what Camden Council said:
"Egg shells do not strictly decompose which is often the reason that people don't like to include them in the compost bin. They do, however, break into smaller and smaller fragments as the material is mixed and should be barely noticeable in the finished compost. They are an important source of calcium, so it is good to include them. They will breakdown more easily if they are crushed."
Compost This said they do break down, but also to crush them.
Glad the lip balm feels good! Have a good evening....

OK, I will try crushing them down before adding them. May well be needed for slug defence when it gets warmer though! At the moment the biggest problem is a neighbour's cat who seems to have managed to crawl under the net over the veg patch (does he think he's doing some sort of assault course?!) and use it as a litter tray - grr!
Good news - had a really good run last night (as I may have mentioned elsewhere), my fastest ever.
Bad news - I am really struggling with the clothing challenge today - have almost bought things online on 4 or 5 different sites, only little bits and pieces but they all add up and I don't NEED them! Managed to resist so far but I am finding it so hard, it's mainly because I'm bored... could do with emptying out my wardrobe at home and reviving some things rather than buying new ones...
Edit - OK, not shopping... paid another tenner off my overdraft instead :ADebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Well done on the £10 paid over to the overdraft!
Pah to the cat! They do love crawling about, don'tthey! Can you weight down the edges of the net with stones? Flippin' things....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

It's pinned down round the edges but it found a gap so we'll need to sort that out - spotted the suspected culprit sneaking about round the edge of the patch this morning - OH's cat sat on the windowsill and gave suspected culprit a good stare until he b*ggered off, bless her:rotfl:

Hmm well cat had left another little present when we got back last night so there will be serious measures being taken over the weekend!
Mr Squizz is annoyed with me - he always makes the bread and I wanted to have a go last night, when I've made bread in the past it's been pretty rubbish but this turned out really well - lovely and fluffy! So he's annoyed cos mine was better than his :rotfl: Told him it was only because I had a good teacherAnd the fresh yeast he acquired from the catering dept at work helped!
Going to break into the clothes budget today, been looking at a dress on ASOS all week - it's only £8 and I have a 20% off code and free delivery one, so think I can stretch to £6.40.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
You've got a man who bakes the bread - let him carry on - if you want to bake, bake something else!
And £6.40 - okay, thats pretty good!2023: the year I get to buy a car0
