Just had a look - they charge here, from 50p to £2.. although, maybe I should just join the library, read more books, get the odd DVD when I fancy it...Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

mmm i imagine the 50p ones will be john wayne or something ...unless of course you like john wayne might be worth it lol ...
radio, reading and iplayer it is then ...and with the occasional swap thing with friends.... maybe borrow their dvd's...lend them yours... now that is a good idea ...have a swap night or even just ask what films you got i could borrow ...i would let you borrow mine but i imagine the drive to my house wouldnt justify it lol0 -

Ahh thanks.. I would have to learn to drive first so that's not too moneysaving :rotfl:I've not got loads of DVDs but I'm sure I can do a few swaps, and actually OH has quite a lot of books I haven't read so that could be useful. I think it's a plan!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
its a start at least lol ...you will probably find that alot of work mates or friends have dvd's they wouldnt mind sharing ...i know my books and dvds are like a library for my friends and as long as they dont damage any of them i have no problem with it ...0

They check on whether you can receive pictures from a satellite or an aerial. Their sensor vans have pickups for the radiation that tvs give off.
That can only be done for CRT's, and even then, discrimination is a problem. After all, is it your telly, or the bloke in the house behind you?
Plasmas and LCDs can't be done like that."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I think it might say a lot about my attitude to TV that I only have a very small basic old-fashioned set..Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Well annoyingly this month's (with last month's added on) TV license D/D has just come out  but I have now cancelled it and will be chopping the end off my aerial tonight! Am doing Lovefilm trial (£15 back through Quidco
) and may keep that on with the lowest package depending how I feel about the lack of televisual entertainment after a few weeks. It feels quite liberating - like when I got rid of BT and had no landline - slightly non-conformist in a little way :rotfl: Not sure if I'll be due a refund though and I can see it being a long process to convince them that I don't actually need it.
Anyway, bit of a pain that it's come out this month - should have sorted it out earlier so my own fault - leaves me with £239 in the bank and £65 to come out for phone bill = £174. Shouldn't really have to spend anything this week - maybe the odd bus fare/ bit of food. On holiday next week, then have another week before I get paid, but again, won't need much. Still think the £100 holiday budget is do-able so am going to budget just £5 for this week.. see how it goes!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Forgot to add, on the phone bill reducing, I've ordered a new T-Mobile SIM which has free unlimited texts if you put £10 a month on. My contract bill should be £32 if I don't go over the allowance, so my thinking is I can stick £10 a month on this, and use the free texts/ credits whenever I'm creeping up too close to my allowance, so should never have to go over £42 a month. In theory!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Interesting about the phone bill for me in particular - one of the things I was supposed to go to was cancelled this weekend, and cos I wasn't paying any attention to my mobile, I didn't know till I turned up.......... big oops. I really have to join the 21st century, especially if I want to connect more to more people. But I don't want to pay £10 a month to do it. Aren't there a few deals cheaper than £10 a month, squizz?
