  • Morning.. brrr it's cold! And wet and dark and just generally horrible! And I don't really want to be back at work after a lovely long weekend.

Anyway, the weekend - Friday had a trip to buy wool and sewing machine bits (I broke the needle :o) and finished a couple of cushion covers. I've started knitting a blanket - whether I actually finish it before it gets warm again is another matter. I really need to get a move on with some Christmas pressie making too - there will be some bags and some hats!

Saturday was the usual farmers market and we bought LOADS! Got some good gardening advice from a local group who had a stall there too. Remembering my vegetarian readers, I won't go into great details of what we've had for dinner the last couple of nights but I can say that we have definitely fulfilled 'nose to tail eating'. Well except for any noses or tails!

Sunday there was another local market so had a wander round that and bought another few bits. Spent the afternoon knitting and reading the Sunday papers.

Getting on OK with my course - some interesting discussions going on there. Also interesting after what I said the other day about some of the postings being intimidating, that the tutor has asked people to stick to the subject area as talking about other areas of Philosophy that they have greater knowledge of is confusing and offputting to other people!

Payday on Thursday - only have £25 left in the bank at the moment!

You sound like you have *so* many local markets in your area! And thank you for sparing my delicate vegetarian sensibilities :o its a terrible thing, I know :o

I like the sound of knitting a blanket - I have a sort of throw, that I knitted years ago - different size squares, in different wools, and I sewed them together and knitted another bit to join them. Its not big enough for a blanket, but it might go well in the living room now, especially if I could line it with something, it would be scratchy on its own. I must have a think, I put so much work into that, its a shame not to use it....

  • Oh yes you should definitely use it, it sounds lovely. This blanket started as a way to use up some odds and ends of wool, but then I had to get more wool to have enough for a blanket... :)

They really like you at that second job, well done you!

And you know, I *will* use that throw - in fact, I'll post about it on the blog - its got to be green, to use what you've got, thats the theme of it, anyway.

  • It seems they do! It's a shame I can't actually start the work yet as I'm having a bit of a quiet afternoon. Well, a quiet afternoon interspersed with annoying queries that I can't do anything about.

  • Sigh, I think it's going to be one of those days - already had someone ranting down the phone! I've done my part in sorting out a problem but the next people down the line haven't so I'm getting the brunt of it - apparently it is 'embarrassing' for the person concerned (it's barely embarrassing, it's a bit annoying, I'm so tempted to tell them to toughen up and get on with their job!) Grrr.

In other news, Mr S's parents (and granny) are coming to stay at the weekend. They've been going to come up since about this time last year but are always really busy - retirement seems to be like that for some people! So we have some tidying and stocking up on food to do. No idea what we're going to do at the weekend, but I think they'll be happy just to be around, they haven't seen his house before, and they haven't seen us since last August I think it was.

Another cold and soggy day here - blah!

Gosh another busy weekend for you squizz...I wish I was as organised as you, you always seem to be doing the things that are on my list like making presents, making jam but time passes by and I get no where!

I also really want to learn to knit or crochet....quite when I will get the time is another matter!
