  • Hello, well I'm still smiling on that front.. we had a lovely weekend and it's amazing how much happier we both are now it's been decided.

Been emailing my landlady today to sort out moving date and it looks like I may be out by the end of October, which would seem sensible (and save me a month's rent). No decision from Mr S yet about how much he wants, but I have been quietly trying to do some sums... half of mortgage + council tax + water + TV license would be about £350. Then there is gas, which isn't on direct debit at the moment, and electricity, which he has never had a bill for (not sure what to do here, should we just wait for it to appear?!). Anything I've missed? I reckon £400 a month would cover everything, which would make me £160 a month better off. In reality I don't think he'll actually ask for that much (especially as he earns more than me). I am wondering if a fair solution to suggest would be to split what I pay at the moment in half so we are both equally better off to the tune of £280... anyway we'll see what he comes up with!

Having a hectic day at work - you'd think I'd been off for a week the amount of stuff I've got to catch up on!

Bank balance is a bit  but I get paid from second job on Thursday and main job next Thursday, and there should be no major spending before then.

Off to see Hamlet tonight with the lovely John Simm in it, with dinner courtesy of 2 for 1 Strada voucher beforehand :)

Oh and my Philosophy course starts on Wednesday :D

Awwwww.......... I'm so pleased for you - and for you both to be happier can only be a good thing. John Simm is good too, of course :D
2023: the year I get to buy a car
  • I think that sounds a fair amount to offer him Squiz, and perhaps you can save him a bit of dosh by sorting out his Utility bills for him. Two can definitely live as cheaply as one :)

Enjoy yourselves tonight at Hamlet- you lucky thing :)

  • Hamlet was brilliant!

Had a chat with Mr S at dinner beforehand and I am definitely moving by the end of October :j

Just caught up on the end of last week's daily chat challenge, which is to do something everyday towards your goals. So today I'm going to... do something (not decided what yet)!

Glad Hamlet was so good. And yay for the challenge - it can be as big or as little as you like, I'm guessing? Let us know what you decide.

  • OK I've decided that today I will attempt a new SOA based on possible new amounts available..

Statement of Affairs and Personal Balance Sheet
    Monthly Income Details
    Monthly income after tax................ 1230

    Total monthly income.................... 1230
    Monthly Expense Details
    Rent.................................... 280
    Mobile phone............................ 15

    Total monthly expenses.................. 295

    Unsecured Debts
    Description....................Debt......Monthly...APR
    Cahoot CQ......................0.........40........0
    Barclays AK....................0.........40........0
    Marbles CQ ....................0.........30........0
    Overdraft .....................0.........150.......0
    Total unsecured debts..........0.........260.......-

    Monthly Budget Summary
    Total monthly income.................... 1,230
Expenses (including HP & secured debts). 295
    Available for debt repayments........... 935
    Monthly UNsecured debt repayments....... 260
Amount left after debt repayments....... 675

Created using the SOA calculator at www.makesenseofcards.com.
Reproduced on Moneysavingexpert with permission, using IE browser.

OK this gives £675 left over based on roughly what I'm paying towards debts at the moment. If I double what I'm putting towards debts to £520 as of the start of November I could be down to about £7000 by the end of the year, and could have most of that paid off by the end of 2011 - that would be nice!

Alternatively, if Mr S wants approx half of all the bills, I would pay £400 rent and that would leave me with £555. I would probably keep paying debts as I am till the end of the year, giving a total of about £7250 at the end of the year. I would probably then pay around £400 per month, and they'd be clear by mid-2012.

Obviously the first scenario is better, but either are good - and they don't take into account any payrises, extra work etc.

That would be bloomin' marvellous! You always knew that that "empty" rent would be a weight off your shoulders when it was gone.

  • Indeed :)

Really tired today - two late nights in a row and I'm suffering for it. Lost my momentum a bit with going to the gym, I just feel knackered! Going to try and get an early night tonight and get back to it all tomorrow.

My Philosophy course starts today - just waiting to get my log in for the online system - exciting!
