Hi Lynz.....I absolutely agree with climbgirl. Your spending money on useful things for your home - this is improving your quality of life and giving your lodger a nicer environment.....that's an investment!! Also you already have the money, you're not spending what you don't have. Since you've put so much effort into ensuring you spend it wisely, I say stop worrying, go for it and enjoy it!!

Totally agree, it is DEFINITELY a good sign! I never thought I'd be on here urging people to spend!

Don't think you'll get much cheaper unless you go for plastic. Nothing doing at any of my web haunts, anyway.

Someone *is* selling a 'build it yourself' CD with plans for cutting the wood etc on ebay...

BTW, I used to freeze my cards in a bowl of ice water in the freezer (wrapped in watertight bag) so I couldn't impulse buy and had to wait min 2 hurs for them to defrost.. enough time for me to cool down.

Might want to put your spending on ice after this purchase!

aww lynzpower, I'm sorry that being a DFW has put you in such a weird state of mind when it comes to legitimately spending money :( I suppose if you told us about everything you did spend money on, we could be your checks and balances to tell you if we thought you were wasting money and were falling off the wagon rather than doing the sensible thing?

Aww lynzpower, don't be too hard on yourself. I know exactly how you're feeling - the 'not spending' mantra gets so ingrained and it becomes really difficult to spend money. Just think, though, you have been improving your financial situation specifically so that you can begin to spend money that is yours, not on credit.

This is an excellent example of the benefits of DFW - you have the money to spend, you've researched the best buys and are trying to cut costs as much as possible (avoiding delivery charge etc). To me that's money saving and savvy spending at its best!!

Its important to allow yourself some nice things now and again, when they are justified and affordable. Your lodger needs nice surroundings and you will enjoy your garden so much with the furniture. Take a step back from strict dfw mentality and enjoy your purchases - in the wonderful knowledge that you bought them from your money, with such a lot of research and thought that they're anything but frivolous or impulsive! Also, I'm glad to see the garden furniture is made from FSC hardwood - enviromentaly responsible and cheap :T

You won't suddenly open the floodgates on massive spending, your reaction to this spending shows that! You seem so dedicated to reducing your debt that I don't believe you'll easily slip back into past habits. Besides, you spend so much time on here we'll soon set you straight!!

    Have more faith in yourself!

    Enjoy your purchases :D
