Ok, so I downloaded DI-524_firmware_v2-06b02.zip and unziped it and installed it. It went through and the router automatically restarted. Finally, it isn't working now. Thanks all, but still no avail.

I've tried the crash reset, but still no avail. Or am I doing it wrong.
  • sorry your having no luck, if holding reset for about 10 seconds doesnt work, then i would suggest an underlying hardware fault with it! Sometimes the switch can go faulty due to heat/overexhertion if its under 12 months old send it back

As it was working fine before you did the firmware update, if you can't get the crash reset to work, it's now a brick!

Ok, I'm trying to use the firware Upgrade Utility provided on the download and it says that my device, quote '192.168.0.1 crash and IP unreachable'. If that helps.

That is because the firmware on the router is not running. If 192.168.0.1 is not shown as the default gateway in the ipconfig results, you wont be able to communicate with the router.

  • its always going to be unreachable aslong as your pc has limited connectivity, thats what some people are having trouble grasping! if your not connected you cant send anything!

have you tried numerous ports on the router or a different cable! The Hard reset should have done it, is your internet light on?

See if you can follow this - http://sry-for-my-english.blogspot.com/2007/05/problems-with-d-link-di-524.html

Do you know how to hard-set your IP, subnet mask, etc for your network adaptor?
