Sharron, do you read the Echo? There was a big piece in today's edition about someone who's done the no buying clothes for a year thing. I read it and thought of you :D

Yep, made £70 which I was really pleased with. I've been carrying a huge bag of change around with me for two weeks so it was a relief to get rid of some, much to the dismay of all the cashiers last night! :rotfl:

Been following you guys on your epic challenge - and it's not even been that long - but already it seems less bad than it sounds. I love the way the challenges on here sound totally barmy and then everyone gets super resourceful and what at first sounded like utter madness soon sounds normal!

In fact you're doing so well I'm a bit tempted to join in... Only I just got a new job in an oily environment and need to go and buy work jeans (would be in my old jeans, but since you can see my bottom through the holes  they are totally unsuitable for a workplace), work trainers (do not own any witout holes in the soles!) and tops/ jumpers that can smell of oil without me getting too upset! Primark here I come!

I will however get eBaying so I'm sort of doing it backwards.... Don't think that really counts, but its a step in the right direction, non?
Do you need it? Yep. Really? Yes! How have you managed for the last 28 years without it? Erm....

TheBex - I don't think essential work clothing counts! Come on board! :)

PS - I'm really not doing this properly at all. I'm watching a leather jacket on eBay and I really, REALLY want it!

    Haha, that's so naughty!

I could join you after I've sorted out my winter clothes.... But it's a long list (after clearing my wardrobe and assessing it properly) of things I really should get. Perhaps I could be allowed the things on the list and then have to eBay the money back? So I could keep doing it backwards, but in a sort of official way?

Thing is that clothes are really the only naughty thing I buy and now I have a job it would be nice to buy myself a little present.

Maybe I shouldn't be allowed anything that's not on the list for a year, making a new list in spring. Because the real problem is impulse purchasing.

Will think further and get back to you all.

In the meantime, I commend you all.
