Well my day didn't go to plan. LO fell asleep so I didn't get to Tesco this morning. My friend text me cancelling lunch as she was having a nightmare day with her baby, so I popped into town instead. I got back to the car and the battery was dead. I've no idea why as I definitely didn't leave any lights on or anything. DH came out and rescued me. The battery has been fine since, so we're hoping it's one of those things. We don't have breakdown cover (it expired and I never got round to renewing it), so I need to get that done pretty quickly. So, tomorrow is Tesco day.
I have a couple of quick questions:
1) Is child benefit paid in advance or arrears? I have received £120 in the bank which the letter stated was for 6 weeks commencing 29th June. Those six weeks would have ended on 9th August. So, when do I receive the rest of August's money? Is it paid at the end of each month?
2) I didn't receive a child trust fund voucher with my child benefit confirmation letter. I thought I was supposed to. How did everyone else get theirs?
3) Has anyone opened a savings account for their LO? Are there any recommendations? I don't really want to add money to the CTF account as I would like to choose when to give her the money (i.e. for a first car, uni, towards house deposit) rather than her getting her mitts on it when she reaches 18 and possibly blowing it on holidays to Ibiza!
OK, off to bed now. LO still awake so hopefully she'll drop off soon (she's been asleep by 7:45 the past few nights but we went out tonight and didn't get back until 7:45, so we gave her bath a miss and went straight to the pyjamas and milk stage but I think she's over tired now. Oh well, maybe she'll sleep even longer in the night.
Will catch up tomorrow.

Choppy from that link one person clearly shouldn't have added their 2pI've heard that it is very difficult to make a sponge cake from scratch. It sounds like the chocolate chips were heavier than the batter and during the cooking process just sunk. Did the rest of the sponge cake come out alright? Maybe it would have worked better if you had heated the chocolate chips a bit before putting them into the batter?0 -

I got £200 to cover from 18th May to 20th July sometime last week, then another £80 in my bank this Tuesday.

In another letter a few days later than the big one.

No idea, but I'm interested too. I'm having an afternoon in town doing chores such as bank stuff on Tuesday so hopefully I'll get it sorted then.
HTH, nighty nightxx

Has anyones hair totally changed since giving birth? I know they say that 3months afterwards your hair can fall out etc, but it grows back again, mine never seemed to have. It's basically at my crown. AND OH WONT BUY ME HAIR EXTENSIONS. My ponytail is pathetic!0 -
