No Sami, she tends not to tell anyone... I'm surprised she told me un-prompted yesterday to be honest... But she'll quite happily sit in her wet pants all day than tell anyone... When she's at home she'll just go and get a clean pair herself...

Forgive me for being a bit dull... But when you make rocky road, is it just rice crispie cakes but with marshmallows and random dried fruit in it? I have some M&S ones here, they say oats and biscuit too... Do you have to add those? How do you make them?!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

Your one sounds alot like the hurty ouchy one I got from toys r us because I didnt want to pay alot for a pump. More fool me. That thing pulled my nipple and half of my breast into the hard plastic, much too small tube and didnt let go for love nor money. I cannot believe they are allowed to sell those [STRIKE]implements of torture[/STRIKE] pumps as they are enough to put you off breast feeding all by themselves.

So you'll be relieved to hear that the medela mini electric does the suck stop suck stop thing and is a million times more comfortable. It is loud but i'm sure you'll forgive it of only for the comfort factor alone!

Was it white and blue with a bear on it and a stupid push button to stop the sucktion? My tightness bit me on the butt.

I am very relieved that the medela mini does the suck stop suck action rather than performs some sort of nipple contortion torture!

Tara, DS1 is in a tiny class and they manage to have their own water bottles, must be clear plastic and must have a sports cap with lid that works to prevent spills they are kept on the desks. So I can't see why your school is saying no, surely it's easier to have bottles on desks rather than cups?

Buttons, have a hug. I don't even go into international, their sizes are designed to make you feel fat.

Elle, uhm... relax a while? :D
  • Back to toys - currently the best toys are mummy's mobile or the remote control. She also likes hitting pans with a big spoon, playing with the big jars of pasta and splashing in a washing up bowl full of water and bubbles. Oh, and she goes nuts for newspaper too!

Her new best game though, is unpacking mummy's bag, and then taking all the vouchers etc out of my wallet. I found her eating a £5 note the other day . (Bag is now always kept closed!)

So yep, what do we need these fancy toys for?!

Mine was butter (about 100g according to the markings on the wrapper), two tablespoons of cocoa, two tablespoons of golden syrup and two bars of chocolate (150g each, I think), all melted together. Add a handful each of sultanas, chopped glace cherries, chopped dried apricots, mini-ish marshmallows and half a pack of digestives crumbled up. All stired together, pressed down in a baking tray and shoved in the fridge 'til I couldn't wait any longer :D

I forgot to say the thing that was the reason I came here...

I got all teary at a baby group this morning and felt a right idiot. They were talking about a 'toy swap' event that's just been planned, and someone asked me if I was bringing Aarons toys that he'd outgrown. He's 11 weeks and not having any spare money really (and very small rooms), we went down the route of not having many 'toys' as such. He has a bouncy chair with toys attached, 2 playmat/gyms that he still loves, a couple of rattley toys and activity bug type things, a curly toy on the car seat, and on his cot is a mobile and some dangly colourful toys on the sides to look at and reach for.

Anyway, I kind of stuttered an answer along the lines of I don't think he's got anything he doesn't still use and he doesn't have much anyway as he's only still very young, and then a couple of other mums with babies of similar age said theirs had loads of toys they don't use anymore, there's so much for them at that age that they had loads of toys, they can't believe Aaron doesn't have 'any' (that's not what I said, I didn't say what I did and didn't have). I felt awful that he should be having more things to play with and I've probably not got enough for him and suddenly got a bit teary and wandered off to compose myself. That's so not like me, but I felt my motherly skills were criticised. I don't think it's the cost for me, perhaps more that I didn't think they needed so much as they don't play with everything anyway, and what he does have seems to keep him amused and happy.

What sorts of things did/does your babies of similar age have? I was thinking of getting some more things anyway as he approaches 3 months, will probably scour ebay and car boots though. I tend to keep out of the baby shops as a way of not spending money that we don't have, so don't really see what's 'out there' for him, and wouldn't know what was 'good' if I saw it anyway - any recommendations for something that yours have loved at that age?
I'm fairly sure that at that age the only toys Alice actually played with were a "pentapus" and a set of toy plastic keys. We never bought her any toys that I remember until her first Christmas (which was 8 months) but I did make toys by putting lentils in plastic bottles and cotton reels in plastic tubs to make shakers. She also didn't outgrow any toys until this year really (I think it was after she turned two we sorted them out) and then it was only the plastic keys (which are for babies to chew on) and also we put away some of the cuddly toys because she has loads more now so we put away the youngest ones and ones she was least bothered about.

hen Charlotte was a tiny baby, the thing she liked looking at best was a nobbly wobbly which is a brightly coloured toy belonging to the dog!
Alice still always wants to play with the dog toys in Instore.

Please tell my the medela mini electric does the suck, stop, suck, stop thing and not 'suuuuuuuuuuck' constantly??
Yes - it kind of reminded me of a police siren going up and down.

does anyone else watch neighbours? is it just me or is it a bit unrealistic that a schoolkid would go back to school 2 weeks after having a baby, pump between lessons and store her breastmilk in the staff room fridge?! :rotfl: two weeks after having seth i had trouble getting my head round asda let alone school :rotfl:
Don't watch it but it's good that they're showing breastfeeding (although I think in Australia people can be rather militant about breastfeeding). Some people do seem to be able to just carry on with life without seeming to miss a beat. I knew someone who had a baby in sixth form and breastfed and managed to do well enough in her A-levels to go straight on to university.

The rest of the school take drinks bottles in, it's only the 1 class. And I don't agree with the water only thing either as some kids won't drink it, there is nothing wrong with NAS Squash well diluted!

Do you remember any of their names? it was one called Dianne that delivered Chris and the one that I had most of my apps with this time was Megan.

Sami - Midwife in delivery / theatre was Ann. And the main two on the ward were daytime- Christine and Nights Sharon. The ones i saw in the community have both been out to see me Sharon and Elaine. But think they just work in my area.

Everything is going fine, except wiht a little mix up between day and nights by Alex.
DS 1 Joe is a little jealous that Alex gets to sleep in our room. But he is fantastic with him.

Daddy is being really good. Doing all housework and pandering to me and Alex. Very strange being waited on. So used to doing it all.

Oh photos. Alex, Alex and Daddy and Alex and Big brother - My boys.
