Feely, I don't know the answer, but given almost the whole point of the therapy is to help mums feel better, if they don't have some sort of creche or child-minding facility they are absolutely idiotic.
Ask them directly what they can do to help with that issue, I would say give them a call today to raise the question so that it's one resolved thing you don't have to worry about, if possible. They should try to find a way to help, I can't believe they'll say "Sorry, but if you are looking after a baby we can't help you".

    Big hugs.

Up till now, they've been unable to refer me because of lack of childcare. I'll write them another letter and ask. They said to get OH to watch him, but I very much doubt he will.

Unfortunately, he doesn't nap long enough to sleep through an appointment. It is too distracting to have him there, they say. I had an assessment when he was about 7 weeks and I couldn't take him then.

A childminder wouldn't do one afternoon a week? Or one 'between school drop off and pick up' a week?

Would your mum pal you go for coffee with be interested in doing that, while you go to the sessions?

Counsellors are pretty rubbish at providing childcare, I know :(

Well the bouncer is up.. looks lurvely :) Rhys in it now.. seems happy enough. Whoever it was who told me to get this type of frame (mel or caz?) was definitely right :D

Can't find the right screwdriver to get the battery compartment open so OH can sort that when he gets home. He txt me a while ago to say he would be late.. hope that doesn't mean anything bad :(
have you got giant batteries at the ready?

Elle - I suppose in her defense, I believe she stated she just started in February (although she's easily in her 30's so I don't believe it's her first HV position, just new in this area), so she may be just being cautious. But there's such a thing as badgering the poor mum to death - and she is definitely guilty of that!
as far as I'm aware in order to become a HV you have to have been a nurse or MW for x no. years first, which is annoying because I'd love to be a HV and really think I could do it BUT there is no way on this earth I could be a nurse or MW they are both gross to me :o
Oh - MSE topic allert - you would have all laughed at me in tesco. I got my phone out to use the calculator funcction and work out which was the best deal on nappies. Turns out it was Mr T super fit 88 pack, 2 for £20 I think. huggies were on offer, 2 smaller packs for £16, but it worked out as about 5p more per nappy than the tesco ones because of the size of the pack. (Pampers were on offer too, but we're not a pampers family;) ). That'll keep us going for a little while anyway.
I write my list on my ipod and use the calc function on it at least 5 times each trip you are far from sad!

Right back from lunch/shops, feeling smug because my boys behaved beautifully while a woman who seriously needed to actually follow up on her threats chased her toddler all over the show :p:D got Chris some lovely books 4 for £5 in The Works plus a hungry catapillar jigsaw for £6.99 :o
Then over to The Entertainer Chris loved it because they have mini trolleys so he pushed one round and they have steps up to the counter so he could pay :T we got a chunky alphabet puzzle which I'd been looking at on another site for £3 less than I'd seen and a bunch of Fireman Sam things 1/2 price :money: coz they were selling them off to make room for newer ones. just gotta pop them on my Chrimbo spreadsheet and see where we're up to know ;)

  • Woohoo Keira walked home very nicely from Nursery today. No tantrums at all :D

Also went in by the Tesco metro thingy, they have shoulder of lambs reduced from £5 a kg to £2.50, but the two I picked up had been reduced to £1.50. 2kg of lamb for £3, and 10 beefburgers for 90p down from £4. BRILL!

We don't eat burgers all that often, so those 10 burgers will last a while, makes a nice change to have a "junk" night, and there is always leftover chilli kicking around this house, so chilli burgers!

Keira still has that mouldy plaster on her finger from the jamming in door incident but last night she cut her finger on my diet coke can, so now has two plasters on one finger. She is walking around with her hand like a claw! OH also managed to smash a glass and insisted he had picked up all the bits, only for me to step foot in the kitchen and get a huge chunk of it impaled in my heel.

    Booboos all around!

Well done Keira (you should tell her!) :) And boo hiss to the need for plasters. Our tesco is closing for a week from Sunday, so I'm planning to go about 3pm on Sunday afternoon and see what bargains I can find. I might leave DH in charge of izzy at home, as it is likely to be full of people panic buying :rotfl:.

Will OH be at work then? Or is he just not much help at the mo? I'm sure a childminder would do one day a week for you. It doesn't hurt to have a ring round and ask anyway. If you can afford it, it might even help you to leave him for the whole day and have a bit of "you" time? Or a bit of "getting stuff done" time anyway? Let you concentrate on other things while he is with the CM so you don't have to do them when he is there?

I thought about my Mummy friend, but she has twins. Don't think 3 four month olds is manageable for her, or for me. All the other ladies are too far removed from my parenting style I think.
