Maybe I should read a book!!! I am 'weaning by feel' and just going along any old howI have been to 1 talk which lasted 45 mins and that is it!!!
I've only been looking at AK's websiteWhat's wrong with "weaning by feel"? That's what they did before every man and his dog brought out a book on it and there weren't forums to ask on!
Is there a BLW guru? (like AK seems to be a well known one, but a fan of purees..)

when i feed seth from a jar i always put baby rice in it to thicken it up, they do make them far too runny! i got some of those fruit puree pot things and i could have really put the contents in a bottle for him if i'd wanted to!
have decided to make more of an effort to "cook" some food for seth as jar consumption seems to have gone up a bit over the past few days cos i've been too lazy to replenish my freezer mush stocki raided the contents of the freezer and chucked the last few dregs of loads of frozen veg bags in a pan and blended them up for him :rotfl: its actually come out quite well and not completely untasty! so he is going to be living on a (lumpyish
) blend of green beans, carrots, cauliflower and onion for precisely the next 11 meals :rotfl:
what do you think would be best for a baby breakfast wise? those little baby porridge packets are SO expensive. apparantly ready brek is suitable for babies, but i was wondering about blending normal porridge? i like the packets and ready brek (i havent tried him on ready brek yet) as they have added vitamins etc but plain porridge oats wouldnt have those :think:Mummy to

My_Fathers_Daughter wrote: »I have a weaning question...I know we have been talking weaning a lot recently
but there are lots of us with similar-aged babies!!
Can somebody tell me what texture stage 2 foods are? I bought a few Hipp Jars to see how Benjamin enjoyed them and they simply far too runny for usHe had a jar of porridge this morning and I had to mix it with a load of baby rice before it was anywhere near the texture Benjamin enjoys!
I wouldn't normally buy porridge of course but I was thinking of chucking a couple of jars in the case to make a change from toast / fruit / yoghurt for breakfast.
Then we had a jar of chicken and rice (orange mush) stage 1 for dinner and I was completely shocked at how smooth it was!! It was like soup!!! Benjamin has never had anything that runny before
So - if we move to stage 2 do we gets lumps and stuff or do I need to make Benjamin live on toast and bananas for a week!!!
Yeah the stage 2 are a bit more lumpy, jasmines the same she handle lumps better than really smooth, i find if i use jars it goes really watery before she's finished as well? Maybe try normal porridge, ie ready brek? its a bit thicker than the baby ones,0 -

Elle, did the doctor say what the repeat blood tests were for? Hope everything is OK
Sorry, read this whilst eating my tea and didn't reply..
My laptop has been doing that the last few days. Overheating, OH says..
The repeat bloods in two weeks (well, week on Friday) will be to check his calcium levels and phosphates again. Calcium should be lower, phosphates should be higher, meds will raise phosphates but also possibly slow down the decrease in calcium  I think we're helping with the amount he's drinking to flush it all out too though.
Didn't get him weighed yesterday due to the BH but definitely having him weighed on Thursday. I reckon we might have cracked the 7lb barrierPersonally I'm aiming for close to 9lb by the end of September but we shall see..
Really hope everything goes well tomorrow, but you know where I am if you need a rantxxx

Elle - Today was just to introduce her to the nursery, show her where the toilets are, meet the other children, and for me to fill in some forms, you are only supposed to stay about 30minutes, but I was sitting playing puzzles with about 4 little boys...:rotfl: and they wouldn't let me leave.
Tomorrow she starts 15minutes later than the regular time, and then after that it's everyday from 12:45 - 3:15.
I did notice a lot of the kids there, have better speech than Keira, made me a bit paranoid but then a lot of those kids are back for their second year there so are 4, not 3. I'm sure she will come on leaps and bounds being around different people everyday.
The forms I have to fill in tonight are permission things, you know so they can teach them things related to religion (like Oh heres a story about Noah etc) or to take a picture of them. Ridiculous if you ask me, what are they going to do with pictures of children playing on a slide, sell them on the internet? I hate how PC this world is, it's a picture!!
I'm hoping she doesnt hold a paddy tomorrow when she leaves, but I won't be there with her tomorrow, think I'll go to the library near by and sign us up, and I can chill out there for 2hours and relax! I love books.
Took me 30minutes to walk her there, and 45 to get back because of her carry on, really need to sort out a bike...or get the bus0 -
