Bibs, I've got long sleeved bibs from Ethel Austin, they were £2/£2.50 ish and they don't need ironing to keep the waterproofness :-) (Which is great for me as I do't do ironing!)

I've never heard of ironing to keep the waterproofness? I always got plastic backed ones for Aimee... Was a bu99er when they got past you in the wash... Melted a fair few in the tumble drier....

True, and I suppose they may well start a trend themselves.....

are they up for trying it for a week to see if they like the food and if it makes it tricky to sit with their best mates? :)

I suppose I could do a trial, but they definitely wouldn't be able to sit with friends as hot lunches are in the canteen (mixed infants/juniors) and packed lunches have separate lunch rooms (1 junior/1 infants)
I'd give them a trial of hot meals... We're not entitled but I think even if we were Aimee would still have a lunch box, she nagged and nagged for hot dinners last year so we trialled them for a while and she just wasn't eating properly... She was deciding she didn't like the food and literally just having cake and custard for lunch and one day all she had was an apple... She was coming home starving hungry and in a rotten mood.... I put her back onto sandwiches, at least I know the food in her lunch box is food she likes and if she was hungry she would eat it... (Although the lure of the playground becomes too much sometimes!)

We've never been entitled for free meals before either and I must admit I do like the fact that I can check up on whether they are actually eating, as anything uneaten gets left in the lunch box and brought home;) But on the other hand saving money and the benefit of nice warm food in winter is appealing (to me anyway:o)
I will have another chat with them, I think they do the menu on a 3weekly rota, so they would have to do the trial for 3wks to get a taste of everything offered;)

I need to have a look at some long sleeved bibs now though, because it is getting a bit nippy I have started putting long sleeved tops on him...his sleeves keep getting filthy!!!

hi chopsticks we are doing fine now i have the whole weekend off lol! the job is going well but im pretty tired and think the hours are too much but we need the money right now! how are things with you? not seen you on here in a while! x

Yay to a whole weekend off! Is there any chance you can reduce your hours when you don't need the money as much (if it's ever possible not to need money as much?!? :D) I am still reading every day or so, but I've been out and about most days so when I catch up at the end of the day, it's time for bed by the time I've read all the posts. I obviously need to stop going out and stay in more :D

    hi caz,

have you any luck in changing erin's teat size??

    xxx

This has just reminded me...can anyone tell me how you know when to change the teat size? Caitlin is on Avent size 1 but I don't know when to put her up to a size 2 teat. She drains a 5oz bottle in just over 10mins.
Chopsticks, have you tried feeding from the breast before offering the top up bottles? Your body needs signals to make milk at that time and the best way to do that is putting baby to the breast... You're not neccessarily making less milk in one side, if baby becomes fussy when feeding from one side more than the other, it could be down to the way you holding her... Maybe try a few different positions and keep putting her back to the same side to increase milk out put...

    Hiya Krystal,
No, I haven't tried that. It's obviousl isn't it but it hadn't even crossed my mind :o. One of her bottles is between 9am and 10am in the morning, so I'll try feeding her and then offer her a bottle afterwards. She's supposed to be on 5oz bottles now and the one she has at night is a 5oz but she only has a 4oz in the morning, so I'll try and swap it back to a breast feed instead.
The reason I think I'm making less milk is that when I had mastitis in my right boob (twice ) and she took a chunk out of my nipple, it was too painful to have her anywhere near it (even my bra touching my boob hurt). However, it didn't hurt as much to express, so I expressed out of my right boob and fed her out of my left boob. Expressing didn't produce as much so I think that side now "thinks" it doesn't need to produce as much so doesn't. I offer her both sides each time I feed so I'm hoping that the milk will increase. I was aiming to BF for three months (kind of a mini target to encourage myself to keep going but really I wanted to do it for longer) and now Caitlin's two months old, I definitely don't want to stop in a month's time.

I always found it best not to give a time frame for feeding, just live in the now... It saves having to think of it as a failure if you don't reach self imposed targets... But you are doing brilliantly, well done! I'm sure as you keep feeding her your supply will up to meet her demand :)
