    yay for celia :) :T:T:T:T

    also yay for elijah:j:D

about ctc, sorry I read the whole conversation twice and I'm still muddled! I discount the first x part of my SMP when stating my 09-10 earnings?

Oh dear, I didn't do this! Will they do it for me automatically at the end of the year or shall I ring now and readvise them?

Also it's £100 per week for the whole 39 weeks of the SMP period is it?

TIA and sorry to be a thickie :)

Taken from an email a friend sent me, explaining it:-
the tax credits agency ask for your previous years income from your p60 which they will use to calculate your entitlement.. tell them you are on maternity leave and ask them to take into account your projected income for THIS tax year instead (if it is VERY different from your normal income). don't forget the tax year runs from april to april. and make sure you have your sums correct on what you will effectively earn this year (if they overpay you they will demand it back).

for all of the weeks that you receive SMP (stat maternity pay) this year you can subtract £100 from those earnings per week, for example if you will receive 28 weeks worth of smp before the start of april 2010 then you can declare £2800 less to the tax credit people which will increase your tax credit entitlement. they won't tell you about these things unless you ask i found out from the internet. ask whoever you speak to about it at the tax place and they will confirm what i say.

please make sure you give them the correct information about your projected pay and triple check with them aything i have told you because if they overpay you they will demand it back and i don't want to get into trouble from you all if you end up owing lol! oh ad ifthey tell you i'm wrong call back again.. some operators seem to get bored and tell you crap.

hope what i told you was useful as i had no idea what i could get until i researched and found out that over this year whilst on mat leave i can get an extra £3k from tax credits and the sure start payment for the year.

have a look at https://www.entitledto.com and

    http://www.taxcredits.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/Qualify/DIQHousehold.aspx

which can also give you extra info about your entitlement.

I love this girl dearly been mates since high school, she got hurt badly by him and he basically threw her and there son out! She seems so happy and I want to be happy for her too, but I don't want to see her get hurt again:confused:

I know I'm rambling just wanted to get it off my chest.

It's annoying the way they expect you to knock the allowances off yourself instead of just giving the actual figures and then them knocking it off. I was claiming for ages before I realised that you could knock a certain amount off "other" income (i.e. bank account interest) which meant I shouldn't have been even including it on the form.

    How old is Celia?

She'll be 11 months on Tuesday!

Fritha, yay for Celia :) she is about 7 weeks older than Elijah but he too started walking this week - very tottery and amusing and hasn't really worked out how to stop except by sitting down or walking into an object he can cling to :) good fun! :T

Rock on Elijah! Celia does that too, sometimes she has to break into a bit of a run to get to something to hang on to as well! She's best at it if she's not paying attention. She's surprisingly good at regaining her balance she started off with two steps then pause to get balance, two steps then pause to get balance, two steps sit down!
Do they walk with their hands in the air

Yup, like a zombie in a film! Very funny!

    Grr.

My grandmother, before she passed away, knitted hats, jackets and blankets for the Monster. The blankets in particular are works of art - crocheted edges and all.

The Monster has also received several other blankets as gifts, including a couple that are gorgeously snuggly and soft.

She has decided, however, that the manky old flannel one we swaddled her in when she was spitting up everywhere and we wanted to save the good stuff is her Very Best Favourite and refuses to be wrapped in any other. We have all these super cute photos of her and that **** blanket is in all of them.

    I am Most Displeased.

However, not only did she flip herself from back to front during Changing Table Rage just now, she managed to wedge a foot in such a way as to get some forward movement. Why does my two week old daughter have the strength and determination of ten babies? I'm going to have to duct tape her to the table when she's a bit bigger. It's like trying to change the nappy of a box of octupuses.

    Great description!:rotfl:

For what it's worth sugarspun, I think a lot of babies don't really like change time when they're very little. At about 6 weeks fergus definately seemed to enjoy and like it, but before then he was alittle affronted! :)

Hope all's well with you and yours! Need you to tell me I can cope if OH goes away (like yours does.. hope he's back now!) xx
Of course you can! (In the early days I moved back in with mum too :D)
My mum won't have us now :( only because Chris kicks her out of bed at 3am so he can snuggle up to Granddad and then he expects her to get up at 6am ish and sort his breakfast and watch cbeebies with him while Granddad has a lie in :rotfl:I told her she spoils him and she'd regret it!
I liked except Franz ferdinand and paulo nutini, who were both DREADFUL. Why does he sing like OAP on speed?
:rotfl:I LOVE Paulo but I can't watch him live, he looks like a pish-head and I shout at the tv "stand up straight !!!!!!!"

Yeah Lady gaga puts on an act, like she is weird and kooky, she dresses like an eejit, and that's all for show too. Oddness sells!
she talks about herself in the third person, its weird! "people think they know lady gaga but they dont" !!!!!!? but i do have a good bop along when she comes on the radio in the car :D
another gaga thing - i was watching something a while ago, dunno what, but there was a kid saying "poker face is my favourite song i really like the lyrics its just like real life" one of the lyrics is something like "baby if it isnt rough love it isnt fun":eek: the kid couldnt have been as old as 10!!!
