"They" say to get baby used to hoover and general ruckus so they don't wake up with the racket. I never done that though, those blissful minutes when they are asleep are to be enjoyed and not for chores.....SO, just shove everything in a cupboard, put your feet up with a beverage of your choice or have a nap - That's what I did when Keira was little0

re: space, I have a packet of cold water travel steraliser bags from Boots which take up hardly any space. An idea for the future perhaps?
Do you have a TT hand breast pump? ours came in a microwave steraliser which holds just two bottles neatly. I use that when going to my parents house as it takes up no more room than the bottles themselves would
I don't have that hand pump but the other idea sounds interesting, will look into that.for traveling i recomend a big food bag for sterilising
...
ETA if you want a micro steriliser I think tesco's travel steriliser (that holds 2 bottles) can go in the micro
The food bag would be the same as what rmac mentioned I guess?
Microwave steriliser wouldn't help in this instance, we are going to a Holiday Inn (special offer from the Walkers crisps codes thing, so very MSE!) so no microwave in the room. That was what I wanted originally though, but sister kindly bought me a big steam steriliser as a gift and was really pleased to have 'helped me out' as we didn't have much money for buying baby things and I didn't have the heart to tell her I only wanted a micro one.0 -
I have a question about sterilised bottles if anyone can help please...
After sterilising a bottle, if it is then assembled straight away (empty), how long will it be sterile for?
Aaron is having 1 or 2 bottles of formula a day alongside my breastfeeding - to take the strain off me as he feeds a lot and I'm still not fully well since the birth and even expressing was taking its toll - and although I remember the HV saying to me that the bottles are ok 'for a while' after sterilising if assembled immediately, I don't know how long for. We are going away for a couple of days and if I can sterilise the bottles beforehand and just take them like that to use when needed, it saves lugging the steriliser with us when we have literally no space in the car for everything as it is.sometimes that'll be a few hours to even 48 hours and it doesnt seem to have done seth any harm! when he was younger i used to keep them in the fridge but now i dont even bother doing that. if you're worried though, you can get one-use disposable bottles you could use for a day or two, from asda and boots, that come pre-sterilised and you just bin them when they're done
i had seth weighed today. he has put on exactly 10lb since he was born, he is now 17lb 11ozlittle chunker!

I never found the infacol to be very effective, but the dentinox ones were brilliant and can be put into the bottle of milk, so no faffing with try to get baby to take it:) I swore by this with all of mine....in fact I have only stopped using it with ds3 about 3-4wks ago

question: should we take LO's car seat abroad to use in a hire car?
taking it -
Pros: we know how to fit it, we know it's not been in an accident
cons: costs to take it on the flight, might get lost/damaged
hiring one -
Pros: don't have to transport ours, no chance of it getting lost
Cons:might not be one we are familiar with re: fitting, don't know it's history, costs money, might not be 100% clean or at least cleanish!
opinions please?!
FWIW, when we went recently to the US, we
bought a new car seat and had it delivered to FIL's here so that he had it all installed for arrival
took the carseat back - in the hold but also in its original packaging - so that we were able to replace our 0-12 month seat with a suitable-to-4-years seat!Hello, just popped on as I haven't been on in a while. I haven't been online in general recently, as I don't feel like I fit it anywhere anymore. If it wasn't for Elliot, I'd have nothing to talk about. Generally feeling quite down, and alone. Being a mom isn't all fun and games for me sadly.
keely.xThere haven't been any groups on over the holidays-i usually go to one on a thursday and once its term time ive found a story time at the library on wednesdays.
I've felt like this on and off since Elliot was born, i have good weeks then bad weeks. I don't want to talk to my gp about it, i'm worried she'll think i'm not coping with him and i don't want him taken away from me.
My hubby has been great, I don't have much time out by myself though because i've got no one to see most the time, only have 3 close friends and it's not possible to see them all the time. Don't fancy going out alone, feel even more alone then. He has Elliot whenever I ask though, so not his fault.
There's been a lot going on that's draining me mentally, my neighbours have gotten worse-had to go to the police and all sorts. So i can't even get some peace at home right now. I'm so unhappy it's unbelievable.
Elliot's not why i'm unhappy, he's a happy little boy who although can be cheeky and keep me on my toes, is everything i live for.
I can't even begin to explain what's going on in my head....there's too much going on and I can't relax properly, a lot of the time i struggle to get to sleep even though i'm exhausted
Thanks for the welcome back, it is appreciated. xx
This sounds a lot like my OH a few months agoincluding the great husband and baby
but also the terrible neighbours (we were renting and eventually moved, after giving sworn statements and all sorts) and the lack of friends anywhere nearby (OH moved from California to live with me, and she's the shy and retiring type - she is just barely beginning to make some friends now a bit, but it's been a real negative for a long time).
I don't know how much help that is - we fixed the neighbours by moving which sounds like it's not an option for you, and re friends and people to talk to, we're lucky to live in inner London in a borough with a lot of free activities and clubs so I've been pressing OH to go to as many of these things as she can handle. It doesn't solve things but it helps. I also persuaded OH to talk to the HV about her feelings - it can only help!
Good luck. Keep ranting/chatting here if it helps!0 -

Hi all.. We were back at 3.50pm - twenty mins after our app time.. How efficient!
Parked in the overflow carpark which was almost empty so I got to pick the best spot for us with nothing to the left so I could get the car seat out.. Really thinking about a new car now!
Will discuss the results of the scan either on Thursday with the registrar or on monday with the consultantSonographer didn't give any indications either way but she didn't have the old ones in front of her and I guess you need to compare the two. She might have thought they were bad but they might be miles better than they were!

We stayed in a Holiday Inn last week, just for one night. I took a big "Lock and Lock" container with us as a cold water steriliser. I made up the solution in the big one, then poured as much as would fit into the L&L container and it was fine0 -
