Strange but good. We are getting on really well. I think when the move date happens things may change. DD2 said she was OK with the move but her voice said she wasnt

When me and OH were looking for somewhere at the start of last year, we viewed LOADS of places. Some we wrote off straightaway as no good, some we were mildly keen on (let's go anyway and see what it's like, you never know), and a small handful would have in our minds been absolutely ideal.
One in particular we nearly didn't go to, but decided to anyway at the last minute, it was in a great location for us and locally was great, looked round and afterwards sat in car decided we'd go for it, only to find out upon phoning letting agency that the couple who'd viewed right before us were already in the lettings office handing in their application:(
Another was a great house (with a "For Sale" sign outside which we were told was happening a lot at the mo and wouldn't be a problem), went to a viewing with loads of other people (we didn't know this until we arrived, not something I'd ever done before), one woman wasn't very happy they hadn't been told and walked off before the viewing started, the house was perfect, big with good sized rooms and again a good area, unfortunately was about £75 over what we could reasonably pay so had to leave it - a few weeks later we were driving past and the sign was still there with a great big "SOLD" across it - I gather someone had a fairly short tenancy in there so wasn't for us!
There was one later on in an okay area, nice house, close to town and not the greatest area or schools but a good price and big inside, we deliberated over that one for a couple of weeks but hated the fact the garden was all concreted over and every house around us could see into it so we left it.
This house we're in now was a "let's go anyway..." house. We hadn't considered this area, even though it was next to the area where OH's mum lives (we can walk there in 20 mins) and is nothing wrong with it. What sucked us in was the fact it's a three-bed semi, with largish garden, garage, conservatory, dining room, downstairs shower room as well as upstairs bathroom and front garden, all for £10 more than we were paying for a two-bed end (what was a) new-build terrace in a more desirable part of town.
The space clinched it for us. We were nearly in a competition with another couple for it, but luckily the landlord took a shine to us as he seemed to think we were good prospects and the lettings agency were behind us so even though we were worried we'd be in a worse position with me not working, we got it.
I suppose what I'm saying is I feel very strongly that thse things happen for a reason. I do still go past the house we really liked but were just too late for and wonder "what if..." but it's worked out better than we could have thought for many reasons. I'd take all the viewings you can within walking distance, even things your immediate thoughts are, "well this isn't something I'd consider" because you never know what you might come across - another snippet is me and the ex got our old house (the tiny terrace LOL) through doing lots of viewings one afternoon with the same lettings agency, when looking at the last one we'd arranged that day and being disappointed because it wasn't right, the lady spoke to the office and was told they'd got one that was shortly to be advertised but was just having finishing touches put to it. She arranged for the landlord's property manager to pop round to show us round, we waited round and turned out it was in exactly the location we'd wanted, in our price range and we went and did the forms the next day without anyone else ever having known about it!Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

Thanks for that Jo I guess Im just out of practice in house hunting. Problems is there are loads of nice looking properties in the town but I so want to be near the kids that they can walk to me and play with their friends etc. Properties here are rare and appear very popular from the sounds of it. I am putting in for everyone thats within budget and on the estate or the right side of the next estate.
I should have a big advantage on Tuesday from what Ive been told because the other viewings are on the Wedesday so I have my fingers crossed. OH says Im being silly and that with the car I could move elsewhere but Im going to stick to my plan for now and change later if needed.
I think you are right that it probably wasnt the right property for me. It was pricey and Im sure I can still live without a dishwasher.
Trying to get motivated into some housework:
Job 1 of emptying bins done
Job 2 washing up followed by quick kitchen wipe down
Job 3 paperwork sorting and filing as it really is baaaaddd right now:j0 -
Am sure the right property will come along for you shortly..wishing you all the luck x0

Well I am sooo nervous right now. Viewing at 10am - I know it wont be the end of the world if I dont get it but the sooner I have a date the sooner we can move on further.
Went to car boot yesterday and bought a small set of bedside table drawers for £4.50 and a hand held filing cabinet for £1.50. Then went a bit mad and bought DD2 a £50 wooden dolls house for XMAS. It is MSE in a way I guess.
Then school clothes shopping. £17 matalan, £4.50 M&S £20 for stroppy DD1 skinny trousers x 2 in H&M and £30 in shoe zone (feel bad but Clarks out of budget right now). That almost all done just need shoes for DD2 and part PE kit for DD1 that of course has to be the the ones chosen by the school = expensive. At least its only shorts and socks!
Hamster escaped last nigh thanks to 3 year old nephew but thankfully back. Was worried our premonition of EFC (Expensive cat food) was going to come true!.:j0 -
