lol, had a look at the first link, and quite why you would need or want a fashionable lining to your home made sanny pad is beyond me. i mean, who is going to see it to appreciate it

I discovered reusable sanpro from a previous MSE thread. (I bought from weenotions)

I had all sorts of allergy problems with disposables, none with reusable - paid out a fortune in disposables, reusables make economic sense - I shudder at the amount of disposable sanpro going to tip every day, no problem with reusable - disposables can often have a wicking effect which results in heavier loss, not a problem with reusables.

Lots of reasons why I prefer reusables, no reason at all why I would continue to buy disposables. Not everyone will agree, and that doesnt really matter. I've found something that works for me and I am so pleased!

I presume those who are squeamish about washing sanpro also throw their dirty knicks away after each wear? :rotfl:

Imagine back to a world where there were no disposables - no Tesco - no tampons - there's nothing new about reusables except that now we have a better choice of materials, PUL etc to make them more comfortable and more secure.

and it is interesting, as previous poster said, how people get so wound up about it

Worth a go! I'm a new convert to resuables and find them very comfortable and easy. Less washing of bed-linen, pjs etc and they are THE solution for us gals who like to sleep on our tummies....well.. you'll know what I mean.

I'm very surprised about how "clean" they are to use too, everything's contained - probably because you can get a customised shape and type that suits you. No chaffing, no rashes, no multiple clothes changes, no mess.

Wish I done this years ago...and they save you money

ive read this thread a few times, its not a problem for me as i have the implant and am one of the luck ones whom after a few weeks of having it in everythings settled down and im no longer having to think of anything like this (for now)

when and if i decided that the implant is no longer for me washable sanpro sounds like something i would try, i cloth nappy my boys so i think its only right to cloth sanpro myself (when needed).

  • I've just finished reading this thread through, and I just wanted to comment....

I don't like the idea of the reusable, home made type STs and Tampons, (~~~~embarrassed by my squemishness~~~) but each to their own, and fair play to you all.

I've a question though, that I've never been able to get a satisfactory answer to.... If you do use STs, when you go to the loo and wipe after a wee, don't you just clean everything away on the loo roll? That's always been my experience...when I trialled STs... very little on the pad, loads on the loo roll after wiping. Is it just me?.... in the end I abandoned STs in favour of tampons.

I have the mirena coil now so no periods to speak of really for over a year. :j

    This thread is really interesting.

I am suprised that people get so upset over it tho ! Its just differing opinions and each to their own I say.

I had personally never thought of going OS on my Sanpro but this thread has made me think.

I have had a look at the Mooncup website and intend to try it - I hate pads and tampons are very drying so it sounds perfect for me.

Definately worth a go - thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread :)
