Hi I was not expecting to be back so soon with an update but here i am.
This letter came in the post this morning.

Further to our conversation on 29th October, we have received the independent asassor's report for your vehicle. We thank you for making your vehicle and the associated repair receipt available for inspection.

The assessor confirms that the vehicle is in generally good condition and although they would question whether the off side rear tyre has been replaced recently, we are prepared to reasses your claim for accidental damage on this occasion.

As the repair cost was £900 , we will be issuing a cheque for this amount less your policy excess of £150. You will receive a cheque for £750 in the next couple of days.
We would stress the importance of ensuring that the MOT for your vehicle is kept up to date going forward.

I would like to say a special thankyou to Docouch and raskazz for all the help and advice you gave me to get this matter sorted, if it had not been for you i dont think i would ever have got any of the money back.
    THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Typical Irish, have to have that little dig there, reminding you that they tell you what to do, not the other way round.

    Still, good outcome!

I'm glad you've got it sorted.

Personally if I had the time I would still pursue a complaint as I'm sure that the FOS would take a dim view of what your insurer has done here. They are clearly not Treating Customers Fairly (indeed they are clearly Treating Customers Unfairly if you have to complain to get a correct outcome, and it is clear that systemic reasons are behind this).

I would expect that a goodwill gesture would be appropriate in light of the delays/stress caused.

I'd be minded to reply back with:

"We would stress the importance of ensuring that you actually abide by the FSA's Insurance Conduct of Business rules going forward".
