If you check out the Cleaning section of the MEGA Index sticky at the top of Old Style there are several threads on cleaning various suede items that may help you. Some threads listed under "Shoes" (well suede is suede innit? :)) and other threads listed under "Suede".

    HTH :)

  • Hi Guys
Took my suede jacket to the dry cleaners the other day and was quoted £35, And they'd have to send it off which could take up to three weeks.
Anyone out there know of a way of cleaning suede? Not just a small area, but the whole jacket if poss.

    Hello johnnytee

If it's just marks on the jacket, I'd brush it with a suede brush. If you don't already have one, they're very cheap to buy (~£2) from most supermarkets........find them next to the shoe polishes.

If the jacket is sweaty and smelly then it will need a clean. You might find that a local independant Dry Cleaner shop will be cheaper than a well known chain.;)

  • If you have stained suede shoes in a light colour, you can get Dylon suede dye for about £3 a bottle and dye them a darker shade, this refreshes them and makes them look almost new.

Take a slice of white bread, roll it into a ball and use that to clean the suede, as it gets dirty chuck away the outside bit. A bit messy, but does the job.

    Hello all,

Im a first time poster but I've read lots of great advice on this board so I'm sure someone can help me!

Got married last April and splashed out on a pale blue suede guest book and photo album. Unfortunately as the guest book was being passed around someone mamaged to get a small line of biro on the front of the book

Have spent ages searching for ways to remove it without spoiling the colour of the suede - any ideas?

    Hello
I have a suede skirt that I wear lots and it is now in need of cleaning.
It doesn't have any marks as such (it is brown) but it definitely needs freshening up.
I have checked out dry-cleaning prices and most dry-cleaners in my area charge around £20 ish. The skirt only cost me £40 and so I don't really want to pay that much.

Does any one have any ideas on how to clean suede yourself? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

How do you clean a dry clean only suede skirt without spending £20 at cleaners????

Not sure if this will work, but the above is a previous thread in here about the same subject. I've copied the title and pasted it here but I'm not sure if it will become a link the the previous thread.

If not, try the search, above in the pink bar.

    Best wishes
