  • I've just logged on to internet banking for old bank account (nationwide) and it would seem I have £15.26 in an ISA account that I forgot I had, gonna go into the bank on my day off (Thursday) and have them transfer it over to my overdraft! that will take it down to £346!

ooh well done on finding the isa hun. see you'll be debt free sooner than you think. i was shocked to find that if I carried on paying the minimum payment I wouldnt be debt free until 2013 and pay back nearly 1900 in interest, which doesnt sound too bad until you realise thats on a 4000 loan!!! I too need to work on throwing money at my debts.

Am determined on having a better day today, good luck with your induction hun x
  • Good morning honey.

I hope you are feeling better today. Sometimes it can be hard when someone else doesn't grab it with as much vigour as we do. Luckily my DF is always wagging his finger at me asking if I should really be buying something or not (though this also gets annoying, esp when I should ). I think maybe a good calm sit down talk will do the job. Just explain that you're working hard to a Debt Free Date and would really value his input. Hopefully, he will understand.. ;). Old habits die hard and it may just take a while to get through to him.

I still haven't done my snowball calculator - Im working on plucking up the courage.. :rotfl:.

We will all have a better day today. :A

    Good luck with the induction..

  • Hi everyone, well today was brill - really enjoyed it! Although I am now majorly concerned about work, really dont think its realistic me doing this course and work, spoke to a friend from my old job who has started the same course at a dif uni and shes not working, as she said the course is too intense (i agree!) but she has loans / grants.

Im going to look into what I am entitled to, think i'm going to have a word with student finance, I have a maintenance loan, and also applied for the bursary, but I applied for a tution fees loan and havent heard from it, not sure why this is, think it may be cos i stupidly but 0 in how much are your tution fees - god knows what i was thinking that day. So going to give them a call, but if I can get a manageable amonunt in loans etc then I will quit my job, OH is fine with it, and we have spoke about outgoings and spending and he realises that things will be tight but he seems happy and willing so thats good!

Student finance doesnt close till 9 so gonna give them a call now, otherwise it will just worry me all night! let you know how i get on X

Need to forget about it till tommorow I think X

  • Hi everyone,

Well I went to student finance today and it wasn't good news, apparently as I had student finance when I was 18 i'm not entitled to tutition fees, grants or bursarys!! All I am entitled to is a maintenance loan, and due to the nature of the course an NHS bursary. So I need to use the maintenance loan to pay for my fees and also some of my bursary as the maintenance loan doesnt cover the total fees - god i just dont know what to do now!

Uni has told me I can apply for a hardship loan but Im at a disadvantage due to having a bursary :(

My course is 5 days a week, and very intense, so def cant work during the week, so im thinking of getting a weekend job at 16 hours?

OH obviously earns but with all the debts I dont know how we will manage, im thinking I should just pack it in :cry::cry:

  • Oh no hun......that's terrible! Sit down and go through what you owe and basic outgoings thoroughly. How much will your bursary and OH's income cover? How much will you be short per month? Working 16 hours in the weekend would probably wipe you out if you're at uni 5 days a week- is it all day every day? Do you get half terms off? Remember any money off your council tax too. Can your OH do any overtime, extra hours anywhere? x
