    HAPPY NEW YEAR WOL :D

must say, EXCELLENT plan of action for this year, especially the drinking bit :)

As a few words of encouragement, I went from beer monster to teetotal almost overnight (not due to a problem, just went off it very quickly)...that was 23 years ago and never looked back - you'll be pleasantly suprised at how much better you FEEL after a few weeks sans alcohol :)

What with that and the patches, you should be in for a blinding year missus ;):D :j

Have a chilled new year's day and same to everyone else who visits....cya soon

Thanx for the encouragement GJ - I'm not looking forward to it as I do really like (good) white wine and have been a bit of a wine snob for many years :o

However I agree with you, I know I will feel much better day to day without it and as cutting down doesn;t work, it;s got to be cold turkey.

Happy New Year to you and all your family Hun

Morning hunni, well, I slept really well. Thank god. With the help of a little magic pill. Not long been up. I am sooooo pleased i stayed in. I dont have a hangover at all. And must have saved a fortune. Now to hit 2010 head on. xxxxxxxxx

Atta girl :T:T:T- hope it;s not too snowy up there today. We appear to have had a light dusting overnight (actually I thought it was frost until Schoolrunmum who is my nearest DFW neighbour mentioned it had snowed on Daily Chat this morning)

I'm afraid I didn;t get to see the New Year in either- settled on the sofa to watch Jules with Beechie boy and next thing I knew it was 2am and Beechie was nowhere to be seen  ....

...but quickly found him sulking in the ironing basket - and needless to say he had left his mark - oh well, saves me doing the ironing - back into the washing machine it goes :rotfl:

Here's to a fabbie 2010 for you my dear - you have worked so hard over the last couple of years and after the events of the last few days there is now nothing/no-one that can hold you back. :j:j Time for the butterfly to emerge from the chrysalis methinks ;)

    Hugs and piggie licks

Hi Wol, hope things are good in your part of the world, we have had a lovely morning of hail - just what you want when you are planning a walk!

Can I pick your brains if you have a spare second? As you know I want 2 piggies and have done for ages, now that I dont have my lovely horse for the first time in my life I have no pets and its horrible. Soooo went looking a piggies the other week v.v cute but before I get any I want thier living arrangements sorted - can you recommend any makes of piggie hutches that are good quality and long lasting - price doesnt really matter if it is going to last. Have looked on t'internet and the prices vary wildly which makes me think that the quality of some isnt so great. Thanks in advance for any help - ps neither of us are any good with wood so making would be out for us but putting together flat pack would be fine x x x x x

There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.

Awww bless...piggies are luverly....getting two is good as they need company. Minimum cage space is 4 x 2'

NB Piggies are mos often these days kep indoors in coroplast made-to-meaure cages. If you intend to keep outodoors they will probably not survive through the winter - they need heated shelter between October and April....no temperature shocks and min temp 10deg C. (Hence Piggie Palace :D).

    Points about wooden hutches:
Min 1m off the ground (to deter rats)
Need to have ability to insulate/waterproof to keep warm (Duvets/carpets and lino are excellent)
Difficult to disinfect if ringworm/infection probs set in

Having said that, I have always kept guineas in wooden hutches and untill recently have never had a prob

    BEWARE:
All-plastic = wet pigs from urine = no good.

The best cages I found are now no longer made. Flat-packed the best I can find are:
    http://www.rabbithutchwarehouse.co.uk/hutches.php
    http://www.bitsforpets.com/index.php?cPath=1_2

But DO google (and also google rabbit hutches) as there are loads of offers on.

Ebay has some good deals if you can pick up locally :D:D

Regarding sourcing piggies - best to go to rescue - they have all been treated/ etc and a list of rescues can be found here:
    http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=118

:j:j...Wol's piggies are excited as they hope they will get more girlfriends :rotfl::rotfl:

Pm me for my phone number if you want a chat Hun

Charlie's breathing deteriorated overnight and an x ray this morning showed the chest cavity had even more fluid in it than last time..

Unfortunately he didn;t make it through the subsequent procedure to drain his chest..:A.....but having said that maybe it was a blessing in disguise as he couldn;t keep having his chest drained repeatedly every few days and a decision would have had to be made soon if there was no improvement (an operation to put in a shunt was ruled out by the exotics vet as far too risky).:cry:.

PM is being done today to try to establish if the cause was genetic defect/trauma/malignancy or infection. He was only 18 months old.a17.gif.

Really sorry Numpty :grouphug::grouphug: - I did the best I could. Am completely gutted today. RIP our little cheekie chappie.

PS: No PM results due til middle of week......I am on the verge of smashing all the windows in my house,,,, and the vets..:mad:
