Nargleblast wrote: »Good afternoon Wol, just think - you could watch the DVD then wrap it and give it to someone for Christmas - one present crossed off the list! Or is that being a bit tight? I sometimes do that with books - read them first before giving them away. And I assume you are going to stretch that roast chicken to at least 2 meals and a batch of soup?
Hi Nargle
:hello:
Hope you;re having a good weekend
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:......an MSE Christmas pressie list....I like it
The chicken is definitely of the rubber variety.......two main meals, (I double up on the roast veggies today to eat half tomorrow) then 4 chicken/veg stews plus reboil the carcass again for soup
Just doing the client preparation work while the dinner is cooking....and looking forward to Harry Potter tonight
Feeling much calmer and in control of things today as Beechie is recovering well :j...he has even started wheeking with attitude again......
Rest of pigs are also a bit more lively so fingers crossed this antibiotic will do the trick
Wol toddles off to put roasties in the oven

Hi Wol - I havent heard that thing about the piggies off the M54 - there hasnt been anything on the news here at all:rolleyes: As for the RSPCA don't mention them - they're a bunch of wastrels, my mate lives in a village nr Wisbech and her neighbour has a dog that she leaves behind when she goes on holiday - the poor thing has no food for water so my mate rings the RSPCA who just dont bother. I can remember a time when I was driving home from work and some gypsies had parked up at the side of the road on some council greenspace and had this gorgeous shetland pony which was covered in sores and shivered with fear everytime a vehicle went past..the RSPCA's answer was "gypsies are allowed to keep animals" - I risked life and limb to approach these horrid folks to try and buy the pony off them (I had a metro at the time and would have had to put the animal in the boot), I wasnt allowed to buy the poor creature but I went back with some vet supplies so the poor thing could be treated - it seems that folks thought that another of their clan was looking after it when it wasnt the case. I think the RSCPA only turn up if there is a chance for them to get on the telly.
Have had a fairly lazy day today although I did go to the corner shop and buy some bits including a copy of classic rock magazine which has a 3D cover which I am going to carefully remove and frame:D0 -
Horace - I completely agree re the RSPCA, I haven't had one good experience with them in all the years I have been involved in rescue. Small rescues run by people who put their heart and soul into the animals in their care can work so much better.
Wol - I need some advice re indoor cage for the Girls, their current cage is far too small and although they get a run every day I really want to get them something good.
Can you suggest a good indoor cage?
Very glad your gang seem to be on the mend
Cheers

Hi Buffy
Been lurking on your thread - hope the hangover has gone now
Hope your littl'uns have now settled down and are not so skittish....and Ahem, scuse me missus.........but Maple and Willow are still waiting for some piccies of their new girlfriends
Best indoor cages are Ferplast - available from pets at home - for two piggies you need one at least four feet wide (ie a bunny cage) - I think it;s the Rabbit 120 I was looking at last week. They also have a double storey one which is even better but is £119 . Check Freegle as sometimes they're given away on there..
Have you finished work now or have you got another week to go? I know it;s carp at the moment , :grouphug:...but Christmas break will soon be here,,,,,,,,and there's nothing better than coming home after a bad day to give a piggy a cuddle and receive piggy whiskery kisses in return ..it really is de-stressing. :happyhear.
Looking forward to seeing some piccies

I must arrange to give away my old Rat cages soon. got no room in the loft!!
Love buying cages! The girls are still kinda skittish but getting better. Am going to have to take them to the vets to have their nails cut but aside from that they are doing ok methinks. hide loads tho but do eat stacks (can they eat broccoli (I can't spell it!!)
work is just 4 and half days. Can hardly wait.
cheers for your help Wol xxxxxNevertheless she persisted.0 -
Any of them would be suitable - the double storey is deffo the one I saw at P@H for £119
Lot of differing opinions on diet. Mine are fussy so the more variety you can get thtem to try when they're younger, the easier it is to feed them a selection. The veggies provide Vit C and fibre. but you may find you have to supplement vit C. Spring greens and green lettuce (not iceberg) are a staple.Parsley/coriander/dandelion leaves/grass also. Others feed green pepper but mine wont touch it. Celery chopped up to prevent strings blocking the intestines. Cucumber sweetcorn and apple also staples. Broccoli/spinach/carrots supposedly in small amounts. Mine won;t eat broccoli but absolutely adore spinach and carrots. Cherry tomatoes as a treat. Strawberries/melon as a treat etc. There's lot of info on guinea pig forum about food. Girlie piggies are prone to cystitis/stones and high Ca/Phosporous veggies can contribute to this condition ( like spinach)
Good luck with the bidding!Flooded 20/07/07.

Morning everyone
My goodness it;s brass Numpty weather here and forecast to stay below freezing until Christmas :eek:
Well despite my best efforts at insulating and lagging the shower room last January (and having the heating on continuously for the last two days ) it would appear this morning that the sani-shower unit has decided to react to the freezing weather by suddenly switching itself on and running continuously. I have yet to move all the suitcases etc from the storage area and access under the eaves..(thought I'd leave that job til this evening and then call a plumber out if necessary for friday.)
hope it;s not a frozen pipe or new sani unit needed _pale_.
Its very sunny and frosty here today...I have been gradually working my way through all the list of jobs to be done (but haven;t got round to Xmas shopping yet). Good news is that the invoices are all finally raised (didn;t do them at end of November) so at least I should get some money in soon.....and I have reached the foothills of Mount Kilimanjironing
Piggies are soldiering on but not fit and Charlie is the latest to start wheezing away despite the antibiotics - however Piggie Palace is being kept nice and warm courtesy of my electricity bill
Horace - I think the RSPCA really are not doing themselves any favours - I saw an advert asking for donations for christmas feeding on the tellie monday night and I nearly rang them up and gave them a piece of my mind about their lack of action over the piggie rescue)
Hope you all have a chilled (but not chilly) day
