Wol, sorry to hear the news, thinking of you and the other piggies (especially Grommie). I know you'll have done everything you could for her and given her a fantastic life.

    ((hugs))

So sorry to hear this Wol. You both battled hard - as NM says though, no more pain.
Hope you and the family are okay.

Thank you everyone - I knew something was up last night, Grommie wouldn;t leave her side and she was not eating much - but hoped it might just be an off day as it was no different from last week's episode when vet said the following day she was still OK. However today, vet (bless her she was brill:A) confirmed her kidneys had swollen to twice their usual size and it was clear from the way Fleure then laid her head on my arm and looked into my eyes that she was now giving me her blessing.

I thought i'd prepared myself for this moment, which i knew would come at some point - but never thought I'd feel quite this upset. It's hit me harder than any of my other piggies..:o.maybe because she has been with me the longest.

I brought her body back and put Grommie next to her so he would know she was gone.....I've never heard a guinea pig sob before.....that really cut me up.

I know I've made the right calls at the right time - she and Grommie had an extra two very happy months together- and the vigilant obs meant she was put to sleep before the painful symptoms of end stage renal failure cut in, so she didn;t suffer.

Au revoir ma petite Fleure - Grommie and I will miss your lively enquiring personality, your courage and dignity and your attentive grooming.
